I just knew Sephiroth would be on this list with her pretty, silver hair and intense make out sessions with fellow lady and softball teammate Cloud.
As an enjoyer of lists I enjoyed this one though I think the Boss > the Empress of Time but that's just me.
Also, female villains who aren't just the deadly vixen or raging bitch can be interesting. Otherwise it's just another boring stereotypical villain for me. Kinda like power hungry guy who wants to recreate the world in his image or guy who wants to destroy the world because he can guy.

Nice list!
I think The Boss was a misunderstood villain , since the real threat in Snake Eater was Volgin. She was motivated by honor and doing the right thing, if I'm not mistaken she defected to the Soviet Union in order to create a stalemate in the cold war for both nations. Not only because she wanted soldiers to have the recognition they deserved, but because for her , it was the only way to attain world peace.
Peace Walker follows the same ethos.

I think it's worth pointing out that half of these villains are totally forgetable, and one of them isn't even a girl (how have you not played FF7? or at least know Sephiroth is not a girl?). I guess I could also split hairs about Shodan and GLaDOS being AIs not actual girls.
Sad state for female baddies. I suppose it's a decent list when you get past the whole factually incorrect part of it.

All this does is reinforce the notion that I must find a copy of KOTOR II so I may relive that bitch again. God damn I have too many games to play.
SHODAN, very nice. I don't care if "she" is a computer. I don't really have a problem with her on this list.
LMAO on including Sephiroth!! :)
Nice list!! Though personally I loved Bodhi, the female vampire from Baldurs Gate II!
No, I don't think that gender makes a huge difference, though it does a bit when it plays off "familiar roles" like GLaDOS. GLaDOS almost seemed like the stereotypical receptionist for a large company with her "nice professonal" voice, the promise of cake, thanking you for your assistance - so the evilness was a nice twist.

@DinosaurPizza: Cheer up, mun.
No sign of Elexis Sinclair from Sin and Sin Episodes (of which there was only one) a.k.a. Evil Miss Big Boobies Bum.

@Dinosaur Pizza: From the only source you will ever need, Wikipedia: A joke is a short story or ironic depiction of a situation communicated with the intent of being humorous. These jokes will normally have a punchline that will end the sentence to make it humorous. A joke can also be a single phrase or statement that employs sarcasm.
@mrandydixon: I keep on telling you man that hermaphrodite thing was a rumor spread by Judith Light in the early 80's to discredit her as an actress. Stop spreading lies.

It's a shame but I've only faced 3 of the top 10 female villains. I'm not sure about KOTOR though as I picked up Jade Empire and hated it, but somewhat enjoyed Mass Effect. I figured KOTOR would be exactly in between those two games so I never really felt like dipping my toes in the water.
I'm afraid The Boss would eat Kreia for breakfast and use her lightsabers for toothpicks. Her expanded backstory in MGS: Peace Walker is kinda epic.
@ mrandydixon - I would nail that dude in a heartbeat. Well, maybe not now, but the eighties version? Definitely.
Also, this page needs more Xenia Onatopp.

I think gender can make a difference when the character's gender is directly tied to their motivations and relationships to the other characters. I would argue for example that The Boss is a better FEMALE villain (even though I would argue that she's not a villain at all) than Kreia because Kreia could have just as easily been male. The Boss had to be female because her role as a teacher/mother/lover to Snake (and biological mother to Ocelot) was the foundation upon which their strained conflict in Snake Eater was built.
10. Would. 9.Would Not. 8.Oh yeah 7.Totally 6.Damn 5.Maybe when we have the technology. 4.Not with those teeth. 3.Whatever she says. 2.Only in a threesome with GLaDOS. 1.If I was seriously inebriated and sad then maybe.
Very excellent list. Selvaria? Hell yeah, I've been discovering the joy of Valkyria Chronicles over the past couple of weeks.
Good list...Kaileena, from Warrior Within, is probably one of the coolest villains. And like all good villains, we discover they aren't all that we think they are. I liked her almost as much as the princess from the first game.
Great list! Ravel's a great pick, though I liked the lady of pain more even though she wasn't really a boss I suppose... *mazed*
