I talked to Ubisoft via Twitter and they are saying the same thing. The problem is, though, Splinter Cell hasn't had good stealth since Chaos Theory. Many levels in Double Agent were in broad daylight and Conviction, while it was a great game, was more about the action than the actual stealth. I'm sure Blacklist will have some extent of stealth, but not nearly to the degree that hardcore fans want it to be.
Conviction was a great game. It was a step away from what I loved sc for, but it was so awesome I didn't care. Hopefully this will be as awesome. This reminds though that I bought chaos theory hd off psn and haven't touched it since. Damn its gorgeous. I'm gonna have to sneak a mission in today during my dragons dogma Sunday mega dorkfest xtreme. Sponsered by mountain dew and tacos.
mmmm... mountain dew and tacos... it's been so long since I've been decadent!
Yeah, I agree that they were likely showing "that which will appeal to the masses" because much of E3 is meant for retailers. It'll likely retain some aspects of stealth to please the existing fanbase - but they'll likely buy the game anyway and showing the action segments may attract new buyers for the game.

I simply can't not buy a new Splinter Cell game. The franchise has been such a big part of my gaming for the last 10 years. All I want is to be able to play through the entire game without being spotted once. That was the best part about Chaos Theory, and I have missed it a lot in the following two iterations.
