It seems like most people's 1st cblog post is always a gaming setup, but unlike every other post that I've seen on Dtoid, my setup contains multiple "tate-d" monitors.
On the left is my 360 running Ikaruga @ 1280x1024 with a Hori Fighting Stick EX connected to it. Works way better than the standard 360 d-pad.
The middle is my PC (Athlon XP 2000+ with a whopping 512mb of RAM and a GeForce 6600) running DoDonPachi on MAME with a Hori Tekken stick / Elecom USB adaptor connected to it.
Last, is the Dreamcast on the right side running Shikigami no Shiro II with the standard Dreamcast pad connected to it. I'm still looking to upgrade to a Agetec stick since all of those awesome shmups are on that system. (My favorites include: Under Defeat, Rajirugi, Bangai-O, Giga Wing 1&2 and Gunbird 2)
I'm planning to add some sort of table so I can have a place to hook up my PS2 and run ESPGaluda or Ibara on it or something.
Anyways, this is just one of the few features I hope to have on my blog since my setup changes a lot. Be sure to look out for my articles about peripheral reviews (I have a lot of controllers) and my impressions and thoughts about the local arcades around the area.
Also, it might be worth the upgrade to an LCD monitor. I've got a 20'' one from Dell with a stand that lets you rotate the monitor vertically which is perfect for Shmups.
The only stick that is out for the x360 is the Hori Fighting Stick EX2. I hope that Sega can make a version of the Virtua Stick High Grade that is compatible with the x360 since that stick uses all Sanwa parts. As for the LCD, I've been looking at getting one for awhile now, but I seem to get a bunch of CRTs that people just don't want but still work perfectly.
@Skribble:
YES!, Back to the Future for the win!
@Mad Matt 92:
I'm with you on that one. Nothing beats the flexibility of a CRT monitor.
@Topher:
Woot! I got the Retroforce Seal of Approval, I'm looking forward to the new episode of RFGO later this week.
If it's like the line of RAP controllers that they released for the PS2, then that means it'll be a Sanwa stick paired up with a set of hori buttons.
According to this page: http://www.hori.jp/products/xbox360/controller/realarc_pro_ex/
the joystick will be a Sanwa JLF with Hori arcade spec buttons which hopefully means that the buttons will be the standard screw-in attached with quick disconnects which will make it easy to install your own set of Seimitsu or Sanwa buttons.
At $200, I think I'll stick with my Fighting Stick EX2 since it still works fine for the fighting games that I play on my 360.
