I thought about picking this up, but I thought that I'd much rather scoop up Etrian Odyssey II and Rondo of Swords first.
To ZeroTolo: I actually traded in Rondo of Swords to get credit towards buying this. Got eight chapters into that game, realized I wasn't having fun yet, and decided to drop it, which is an event for me. It seemed difficult for the sake of being difficult.
I kind of like the loot system; sometimes it's a hassle, but it's better than just going to the store after every plot battle hoping for something new. Here there's at least some measure of control offered, and you can make things available in the store that you had to get through quests in the last game.
I'm not sure about those high heels either...and as for the sword, it's stupid, but I want to know where he got it. What self-respecting blacksmith makes a sword that actually looks like a dick? It's supposed to be implied. Psychological. That's just cheating.

I guess what bothers me the most is that I really liked exploiting the Law system in the original game. Like if I was going to be going up against a group that liked to use certain tactics, I could ban those ahead of time and laugh at them. Now the law system doesn't even affect enemies so it's only there to piss you off aside from the clan privilege thing.
Also, I'm not a fan of the "Gain XP after battle" thing for FFT. I know it helps level up people who don't go and do a lot of front line fighting, but it just doesn't feel the same.
Other than that, the game is alright. Luso isn't a whiny jerk like Marche was.

Much as I enjoy a good tactical, something about FFT(A or otherwise) puts me off. I might pick this up used, but I can't bring myself to pay full price.
After reading this post I'm seriously thinking of getting the weapons feature in this game. I'm an active weapons collector I mostly collect fantasy weapons and such. Now all I need to do is check out http://www.replicaswordsource.com to see if they have it then I’m god to go.
Wow! What a neat set of blog entries. Nice to find another gal like me who is also in love with TRPG's. Have you tried Jeanne D'Arc yet? it's really well made, and though I'm not that big into visual effects or graphics in games, it's quite a pretty game. Both my husband and I love portable tactics games.
If you are loving Disgaea (which I'm having a hard time learning to play!) you'll LOVE Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions! One tip: Keep multiple save files: there are places of no return!
