to start, the game is HUGE. it's the kind of game that, if you just try to jump into it, you will have a good half hour to an hour of frustration trying to figure out what everything does.
even if you do the tutorials, they're pretty much, "hey, this is what you can do in the game, good luck." and that's it. your first game for a good hour, you're so overwhelmed by all the SHIT there is, you can either think, "this is crap," or "wow." And you sit there, build a scout, and just send it places and stare at the pretty planets, all the while saying to yourself, "wow." it looks so good.
after a bit, you start getting into the swing of things. you start building research... buildings, ships, turrets, but then you start running low on resources. usually one specifically, either metal or crystals, rarely gold, and you get stuck.
BUT, if you're savvy enough with the game, you hit up the black market and start selling some resources for another. and eventually, you're not entirely stuck.
My biggest qualm with the game is it's gameplay time. it takes FOREVER just to finish one game. a game with 1v1 on a map with 20 planets (trying to remember, i think thats right) took me about 3 or 4 hours to beat. maybe 5, i lost track of time, hah. but the games take a long time, and if you're the kind of person that has trouble peeling themselves away from a game without finishing it/saving and coming back to it later, either curb your addiction or find someone to deck you across the face in order to stop you playing. i'll wouldn't say you shouldn't play.
all in all, this is Supreme Commander-like on some non-habit forming drugs in space. its amazing. my friend let me borrow his laptop to play it, and i played the shit out of it for a while (2 games, that first 1v1 on 20 planets and a second 2v1v1 on i think 25 planets, eating up quite a part of 2 days) and i don't think i'm going to purchase it.
not because i'm a hypocrite, but because i'm the type of gamer that will stay up until 5 am playing Crackdown for ABSOLUTELY no reason when i know that i have rehearsal at 11am in the morning at my school 20 minutes away. Knowing me, i would probably fail out of school. thanks, but if i really need a fix, i'll raid my friend's laptop again. PEACE.
specifics are few, but what is known is that a shooter walked into a geology classroom at around 3pm today and started firing.
there are a possible of two dead, including the gunman, and at least 15 people were injured.
if you know anybody that goes to school down there, call them or text them now. find out if they're ok, cuz you don't want that news later.
what the fuck is going on recently? V-Tech, now this shit? and where the fuck does the gunman get off killing himself in the end? save the damn bullets and just put one into your temple in your bedroom, and problem solved. you're without the world, and the world is without you.
no doubt some douche (read Jack Thompson) will find some way to blame video games for this tragedy again, just like he did with the V-Tech shootings.
i called all my friends that i knew that were down there, and i'm just glad that they're all alright. my thoughts are with all the victims.
shit. dis is no good. my computer is about 3 1/2 years old (way too old for the rate technology is developing at) and i now have 6 dead pixels on my LCD screen.
PANIC!!!!!!111!!!1111!1!
anybody know if age is finally getting to my laptop, or am i freaking out about nothing?
although, this could be really crappy grounds for getting a better one.
i sit up for a second or two, and my eye catches a white box next to my Wii, which wasn't there before.
i then fully sit up, and am kindly greeted by thus:
HOLY FUCK YIZZAH!
