Backwards compat has nothing to do with the smaller processors.
It's more to do with the EE chip not being on the motherboard. Then, now they're just removing that oh so expensive emulation software at this point.
Yeah, it's nice that they are reducing power consumption and heat in their already efficient design. Somebody needs to learn some thermodynamics over there at microsoft.

The PS3 is bigger than my dog and costs more to run than my iMac every month. The Wii is efficient design.

I've roasted hot dogs after long matches of WarHawk on my PS3. It still runs like a champ though.

Considering I didn't own a PS2, I really couldn't care less about the backwards compatability.
