Hunter Halloween Costume
Falciase | 2:06 PM on 11.08.2009 6 comments

Hello all! Just posting to show you who are interested my hunter costume I wore for Halloween this year. Turned out really well, and it was a piece of cake to do, too. One trip to Wal-Mart and < $30 got me a great costume. Pictures are as follows!

Here's the original L4D hunter as comparison. Costume turned out pretty legit.

Of course, now the hunter in L4D2 is a bit different, so this costume is now obsolete! :P Let me know what you think in the comments! Anyone else dress up as something L4D inspired?

My Platform Game!
Falciase | 11:29 PM on 10.06.2009 5 comments

Hello all! This is my first post here. I kind of just usually lurk in the shadows, really...

Anyhow, I'm creating a game using Allegro C++. I've gotten quite a bit done so far, and am about to do a complete overhaul to make the game more efficient. Also, my own graphics, music, and sound effects are yet to be implemented. As of right now, I've cobbled everything together from the internets.

It plays terribly similarly to Megaman. Except the badguys are Megaman! Oh the irony! Sound effects are from The Legend of Zelda 3: A Link to the Past, and music is from Final Fantasy VI and Donkey Kong Country 2.

Anyway, for your viewing pleasure, check out three levels from my game!! Youtube kind of mangled the 60 fps to 30 fps, so when you get hit or get the invincibility powerup, you don't blink anymore, you just turn invisible or stay visible the whole time. But when I'm going through badguys, just know that I picked up the orange "I" invincible powerup recently :P

I was one of the punks that thought that Megaman 9 was too easy, so I made my game kind of hard. But it gives you lots of lives, so it's alright! :P

You should let me know what you think in the comments below :D Don't bother telling me about the glitches, I know all about them hahah.

 about me

I'm T. J.! I'm a college student, 21, going to UT Tyler for a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and at Tyler Junior College I am going for a Associate's Degree in Game Design and Simulation. Guess which college is more fun? XD

My favorite games are old games. I love Arcade games, NES games, and SNES games. I feel many old games are better than many new games. I find it impressive how old games from even the likes such as the Atari 2600 can be just as fun as games coming out today-- technology does not have a lot to do with gameplay, does it now?

The games I am playing alot of currently are:
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii
- Left 4 Dead 2
- Borderlands

I program quite a bit in my spare time, and in class. I'm working on programming games in Allegro C++, and hope to someday either start a company that creates games or work somewhere designing games. I'd love to work for Valve. I'm more interested in the game design aspect of creating games, but I am learning how to program in order to get my foot in the door of the industry someday.

My favorite gaming companies are:
- Nintendo
- Konami
- Capcom
- Valve

My all-time favorite games (in no particular order...)
- Super Mario World
- Super Mario 64
- The Legend of Zelda 3: A Link to the Past
- Kirby Superstar
- Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers
- Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (my first Metroidvania game :D)
- Castlevania 3
- Super Metroid
- Chrono Trigger
- Final Fantasy VI
- Megaman X5
- Resident Evil REmake
- Resident Evil 4
- Metal Slug 4
- U. N. Squadron
...and many, many more...

I'm currently building an arcade MAME machine! It's almost done :D I'll keep this blog updated when I finish it.
