It sees our world through a monochrome screen,
or rather we see its world black and yellowish green.
A world of falling blocks, a world of pink mimics,
a world of mustachioed heroes, a world of pocket monster gimmicks
We enjoyed it with a smile, we laughed and cried,
we yelled and screamed, because of it, we died.
HP was drained, super powers gained,
princesses saved, high scores attained
Inherently simple, it was never complex
Though it was always a task when reading its text
In the car it kept us from torturing dad
At home it helped us meet friends we never had
After years of use, it could look a tad better
Not to mention the new tech that attempted to break that tether
Its case is scratched, screen beaten and broken
But after all our adventures no harsh words are spoken
It served us well, no complaints here
If all goes as planned, we'll get twenty more years
