Another week, another episode of Failcast gets recorded. Of course, that has no bearing whatsoever on when you 3 people that actually listen will get your grubby hands on it. Regardless, tonight's show is promising in that it will be full of WIN and SEXYTIMES. Tonight's guest is the adorable asian Hoygeit, friend of animals, guildmate to Yashoki and I, and all around pretty cool SUPER ASIA. This week we'll be discussing Blizzcon news (OMG WOW BEST GAME EVER FAPFAPFAP), my intense hatred of Bayonetta's "PRESS Y TO WIN MODE", and who knows what else.

How much wood can a woodchuck in fact chuck? And why? Other than the fact that he is a woodchuck and doesn't know how to do anything else. Also, you may have already talked about it on the last espidoe (and if so I sincerely apologize, I haven't gotten the chance to listen yet, what with yesterday being terribley busy) But what are your thought's abour Orcist's post about Narrative Conflict in JRPGS? While it is with a doubt superbly written, I find myself completly disagreeing with it, and felt that while totally valid, a lot of the problems he came up were a matter of opinion and taste. I've oft heard it said that Japanese games (and JRPGs in particular) are outdated and stuck in the past, but I must say I strongly disagree. Yes, they often require significant time commitments, and stories that focus mainly on character interactions to liven up the plot, and that's why there not for everyone (like any other genre) but to say that these are failings of the genre seems frankly wrong, as does the whole "It's all prettyboy animu bullshit." Theirs plenty that are, but just as many FPSs which are just musclebound space marine bullshit, it's a product of over-saturation, and to define either genre purely by it would be nothing short of criminal. While this is probably an incoherent mess of a topic, I wonder if you guys have any thoughts on JRPGs, and the attacks that the genre has undergone as of late.
