About Me

Hey robots, I'm Excremento, but you cool and old skool Dtoiders know that already, this is merely for the N00BS. I've been a videogamer for as long as I can remember. I have well over 27 years of video game experience that I rely on daily, and a near encyclopedic memory of gaming starting with the Commodore 64 and ending with whatever is the current hotness.

I've got my own blog at MediaWhoreNetwork that I try to write on when I'm not too busy...and just recently have decided to come back to do a few Community Blogs here on Dtoid now that most failbloggers don't exist anymore. I'm still here fellas (and ladies) updating as often as I can for all of your enjoyment.

Any of you out there who wish to chat it up with ol Ex can do so at:

A Wierd Kid's Top 10 -- Genesis Games

Hey all, I wasn't much of a Genesis/Mega Drive player back in the day. And the only experience I've had with the game library for the Genesis is from my legally obtained ROMs and emulator that I have.

My main problem with coming up with this top ten is the fact that most of the games that came out for the SNES, also had a version for the Genesis...not all the games that were ported to the same system were in fact the same game though...you'll see that tomorrow. You know what? Fuck it, I'll just post them all and be done with it. You'll have to forgive me for not including a blurb about each, I wouldn't feel right commenting on games that I really have no history with besides playing on the computer.

Number 10: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

Michael touching kids, and of course Bubbles the Chimpanzee...

Number 9: Beavis & Butt-head

A much better version of the game that what I played on the SNES. It was more like the old Sierra Adventure games, except more crude, and oh yes GWAR!

Number 8: X-Men 2: The Clone Wars

The X-Men games on the SNES were laughable, oh and this one had GAMBIT!!!

Number 7: Streets of Rage

Final Fight was good, but it was only 1 player on the SNES. Streets of Rage was much better cause you and a buddy could slug it out.

Number 6: Vectorman

I just really, really liked the style of this game.

Number 5: Herzog Zwei

Now, I do have experience playing this one. Late nights with my best friend playing the first RTS I ever played = good times.

Number 4: Shadorun

I loved the SNES version of Shadowrun, but this game had a better approach, instead of trying to encompass all of the character types like the SNES linear-RPG, this had more of a sandbox approach.

Number 3: Landstalker

I beat Alundra on the PS ichi, and thought it was better than Zelda in a lot of respects. I was a damn difficult game. Then I found out that the team that made that game also made this one...I was hooked faster than a $20 dollar whore on bingo night.

Number 2: Comix Zone

ZOMG, its like I'm in a comic book, WOW!!!

Number 1: Gunstar Heroes

Fuck yeah, awesome shooter, lots of customization, homing laser FTW!

Number 0: Zero Wing

Words can't describe the sorrow I feel as an American who couldn't get a copy of this magnificently translated piece of work.

Thanks for reading!

Oh man Gunstar Heroes FTW!!1! That game is still the number one reason I have a Genesis, it was also the first game I got up and running on the Dreamcast Genesis emu... and loaded on the Xbox Genesis Emu... oh yeah on the PSP Genesis Emu also... Shadowrun is phenomenal too... if any one out there hasn't played the Genesis version, do. I remember playing it on the Sega Channel and having to spend two months playing just that game since you could only store one save file on their servers. Good Stuff!
