So I preordered Valkyria Chronicles today. Been looking foward to it for awhile, but that preorder bonus artbook really sealed the deal when it came the putting down some money in advance. But the problem? I don't have a PS3. Yet with this in my mind, I blindly went ahead with my order, not giving it a second thought.
This isn't the first time I've done this either. I purchased Ouendan and Phoenix Wright before buying a Nintendo DS. I also had Megaman Legends before buying a Playstation. I just straight up buy what I think looks fun. And so far I've been pretty darn lucky. The only thing in recent memory I absolutely hated was Lunar: Dragon Song, which thankfully I only paid $10 for. All of the previews made it look pretty awful, but I was dumb and went for it on the Lunar name alone. Bad idea!
I suppose in the end this isn't all bad, because with the release date of Valkyria Chronicles in mind maybe I'll actually start setting aside money to get a PS3 in time to play it. Unless it's for bills and food, I am terrible at managing money, seriously. There's plenty of other PS3 games I'd like to play too, but I still feel like a complete weirdo when this happens. I'm also curious if anyone else out there is guilty of this. =P
I preordered regular edition MGS4 before getting my PSTRIPLES. I got lucky when they somebody returned a LE version of the game and the manager gave me that copy instead.
I grabbed Valkyrie Chronicles w/o owning a PS3 too. Err, at least I put a deposit down for it.
The game feels like a niche title and like any Atlus game, I'd fear a small print run. Might as well get it early so I won't have to go through eBay by the time I own a PS3. Plus, I hope that an early purchase will encourage Sega to fund more cool projects like this.
Although if this game gets ported to the 360 later, I'm gonna cry. As I have a 360 but no PS3.

I preordered the LE version of MGS4 a month before I owned a PS3...
Granted, I got the game at midnight of release date and the console the next morning, but it still felt like a pretty impulsive purchase.
Valkyria Chronicles looks unbelievably gorgeous. I already put down my money for it..but I have a PS3.
I've never bought a game before owning the console, but I was given Tony Hawk's Skater 3 (best in series) before I got my PS2.
I would buy a lot of games just for the extras, but after watching my various art books just collect dust, I decided to stop.
I don't have a PS3 either, but now I really want that artbook...

I bought Oblivion before my brand new gaming PC arrived. Waiting four days with only a game is not fun.
I'm so glad other people are excited about VC! I want a PS3 anyway but this is adding to the library of games I would like for it.
I can't wait for VC to come out. It looks so much fun
I own Mario Galaxy for the Wii, but do not own a Wii. I didn't even get a preorder bonus.
