I'm Jarod from around DC and I recently graduated George Mason University with BS in IT. I grew up on Nintendo systems and PCs so I tend to be a Nintendophile, but I don't see myself as a die hard fanboy. I've owned every Nintendo system since the SNES (I've played a fair share of NES at friend's houses an such as well) except the Virtual Boy and the Gameboy Advanced SP. My current systems include a Wii, PS3, and PC. I won my PS3 in a contest for a certain video game blog. Now I just have to decide whether or not I want a 360. The only genre of games I don't really play a lot of is sports, with a few exceptions, but my favorite genre is RPGs. I also like to play a lot of retro games and MUDs. I hate making "favorite [instert item here]" lists so I'm gonna skip that part. Things I like besides games include lacrosse, water skiing, playing around in Flash and Photoshop, camping, and reading web comics.
Another Music and Games Festival has come and gone, and here I am trying to piece together what exactly happened to me during those four crazy days. Kick ass concerts, arcade cabinets, a room full of every console imaginable, panels covering everything from voice acting to game development to cosplay, room parties, and general craziness are just some of the things that come to mind. Despite carrying a camera with me the whole time, I only have few videos to show for it. Hopefully these videos will give you a taste of one of my favorite bands that played at MAGFest, Select Start. Please excuse the quality.
Also, any help identifying the songs is appreciated. They all sound familiar, but I don’t know any of their titles.
…but not nearly as cool as my Betrayal Contest PSTripple!!!
As requested here are some pictures of me attempting to smile.
Look at the head on that!
Yeah that’s a water cooler.
Alright that’s enough of me. These were actually taken in my parents’ house. They live close enough to campus that I usually end up visiting just about every weekend. Plus there’s free food there.
Back to the pics!
The obligatory contents pic:
What, no Talladega Nights?
What Warhawk looks like in 1080i on a DLP:
Yup them some purdy rocks.
I should have taken this one with samurai-looking-armor-faction dude instead
Sitting in its new home on my, as the kids would say, “ghetto-ass” console stand where the PS2 used to be:
WTF blue wall?
Finally a pic of my number one consumer of money and time, because I love it so:
There are blue LEDs on the fans and on the power supply, but it’s off right now.
One a somewhat related note, I came home the other day and found a scratch across the top of my PS3 and Wii was huddled in the corner crying about something, this happens a lot(its so emo, something about not spending enough time with it, I dunno.) Apparently my PC and PS3 had been fighting. I think it was a dominance thing, but now that they have it out of their systems, and after our little sit-down everything should be fine.
Once again (I swear this is my last ass-kissing session regarding this contest) I want to thank all of editors and the community for making this the best video game blog on the tubes and the only video game site I check on a daily basis. You guys are awesome and truly do make this site unique, I am proud to be a member of the Dtoid Army. I’m not just saying that because I won a PS3 either. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for Destructiod.
