Hey guys! I'm still here!
Anyway, not much to report here. Jobs are a non-existent thing in the fine state of New Jersey, and I've been sitting home a lot. I've also been playing more games because of this. But that's all ending now. All of those games were payed for before I lost my job, and now I have to fend for myself.
But at least I got two pretty good ones. You may have heard of them:
Metal Gear Solid 4 and
Ninja Gaiden 2. Since I miss you all so much and have a few moments to spare, I figured I'd share my thoughts on the two titles. We'll start with a short review of the latter, and then go from there. Someday.
Getting right into it,
Ninja Gaiden 2. Let me say this first: The camera sucks. It's an absolute insult to good game design. And it's also quite obvious that it was done on purpose. That it is to say, it was a
deliberate design choice. Apparently us gamers can't play a game from a pulled back perspective. We must be within inches of the main character's asshole for the sole purpose of eye candy. Nevermind that it can be endlessly frustrating and almost game breaking at certain points (Ninjas with rockets?). It's all about style.
Itagaki certainly knows how to sell a game, and for that I give him credit.
As for the gameplay, it's a fucking blast to play this game. When you're not busy struggling with that camera I mentioned earlier, you'll find yourself immersed in the art of destroying people at an almost constant rate. It's a hell of a lot easier than the last game for the most part, especially on the first difficulty level. Bosses can be a bit irritating, especially when they come back for a second ass-whupping, but on the whole they should be beatable for any self proclaimed "hardcore gamer".
The story is complete garbage, and what really sucks is that we are forced to watch all of the cut-scenes the first time through. There is no option to skip. That's fucking insane, considering how ridiculous the story is. Even MGS 4 gives you that option, and it's movies are actually interesting.
Bottom line: If you liked the first game, you'll like this one also. It's a fun game once you get past the shit story and horrible camera. Oh, and just be sure you master that counter-attack. It's all cake after that.
Anyway, it's been nice typing up this totally unnecessary blog that hopefully one of you will read today. No, just kidding, I love this community. I miss you all.
MGS4 thoughts coming.....eventually.
Then I realized there is far worse within the cblogs. I also do that a lot.
On your blog, if the camera in a game is horrible it usually kills the whole game. It's stupid. Even Kojima added a full 3D camera because it's so much better.
Once again, glad you're back
Great to see you commenting on my blog Takeshi!!!!
As for the camera problems, it's not quite game breaking with NG2. It's almost that bad, but it's playable. And when it's working well, it's amazing.
What's the deal with MGO? Monday is a bad day for Metal Gear, the servers are updated on Monday.
@ takeshi: That really sucks. That sucks really hard. Fuck.
I haven't even played MGO yet though, so perhaps you're not even missing anything, right?
Takeshi
You tired lol?
Also, where's the numbers??? I thought this was a review!
I sold UT3, CoD4 gave me so much more.
BTW I wish NG2 was coming onto the BS3... But
Now with everyone at Tecmo suing themselves.
I MAY never get to behold this beauty, in person. Why Me?
