Note: If you can't see the text in the picture above, click the gallery. Better yet, go check out this forum where you'll discover that Luc is still a douchebag and a whiny bitch. And people are disappointed in our community? For cursing Luc Bernard out after he acted like a big fucking baby? I wasn't going to get involved because I figured I'd be upset if my game was shit on and all, but this guy is a total fucking douchebag. Have you guys seen what he is saying about our wonderful website and community here at Destructoid.com? The gaming community as a whole should be disappointed in this guy for acting like this. He's being a fucking baby, and he's also calling out Dtoid on it's integrity. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that you can expect thoroughly honest reviews from the editors here. We may not agree with them more all the time, but they give their honest opinions of each game they review. And that's the point of a review: To give your own damn opinion of a game. This is why no gamer should read the reviews of only one site, because everyone has a different opinion. What's amazing to Jim Sterling may suck donkey balls to the guys at IGN. This is something Luc doesn't understand. He seems to expect great reviews from everyone else just because we're supposedly being dishonest in our reviews. Basically, he's making something out of nothing and telling the internet and it's gamers that we reviewed a non-official or early copy of the game, when in fact our own Conrad Zimmerman purchased the retail version of the game. The point I'm getting at is that although we said some vulgar things, who cares? This is the god-damn internet. At least we told it like it was, whereas Luc denied his own incompetence and instead went on a flaming adventure, all in the name of making Dtoid look like they're not credible in any way. Too bad Luc can't type a sentence properly, otherwise he might have been able to convince some web lurkers that we really are scumbags over here at Dtoid.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

No idea where I'm going with this. It's late and I need sleep.
So like I said, when the demo releases, try it out for yourself, and make your own judgment.
He didn't debate Destructoid, he just made accusations and acted childish. Some of us weren't much better, but he was the worst offender here in my opinion. And he just keeps it going on other sites, trashing the editors and all.
Nice find EDS, it just goes to show what a douchebag he is, running and crying to other sites when he can't handle the truth about his Newgrounds-level game.
Luc spent years of his time and his own money to produce a cheap platformer. There was a major flaw with his release, but it was fixed near instantly. The same day he fixes the problem, a review comes out that says the game is worthless and has no redeeming qualities, mostly because of what he just fixed.
On the other side, D-toid sheeple spent a few minutes reading someone else's opinion of the game (that reads like a MST3K episode with the jump issue coming up every paragraph), and then turned into a raving mob out for Luc's blood because they felt entitled somehow.
Even if the game was terrible (which I don't think it is), he has every right to call a reviewer's opinion into question, and most of this community does it every time a game is reviewed. That's the definition of hypocrisy.
You're right in the fact that a large chunk of this site acted pretty fucking childish. But as it gets bigger the dumbasses are going to be harder to control.
It's still no excuse for blaming his team for not making the game true to his idea.
But there's also no excuse for going around the internet and telling other communities that we're dishonest or lack credibility. Who the fuck is Kotaku, that he thinks they will have such a superior review? Why try and make Dtoid look bad?
Personally, I think he's a big baby. He's acting like an snotty artist who's work just got shit on and isn't taking it well. Next he'll be sending out suicide threats when the rest of the internet tells him the game sucks. It's ridiculous.
The issues with the game extend far beyond just the jumping problem, if you read the review.
You dont go around blaming everything on everyone else, even more so... someone that helped you with the project. Taking pride in your work is key, and owning up to mistakes or taking the negative in a positive manner is also part of pride.
I don't blame Luc for his comments on the Steam forum. I mean a guys got to eat right? and he needs the game to sell if he wants to continue making games and he's got to try and convince people to buy it. He may be a big baby but I think a lot of people would do the same thing
Whats the point of a 1-10 scale if you're not going to give anything below a 4?
You want to know why people hate this site, and believe me, they do? It's because of crap like what happened in the comments yesterday.
that annoys me
I <3 spelling police.
@Tazar
I'm more than wiling to try out the demo, but you got to keep in mind that we'll be playing a completely different game. The game was patched the day it was released to fix poor programming that literally made the game unplayable. Why would any reviewer give a poor platformer anything more than 1 out of 10 if the main mechanic (jumping, as it is in most platformers) is absolutely broken? Harsh or not, Luc had no business releasing the game in that condition, and Rev and Conrad rated the game as such.
@EternalDeathSlayer
You're throwing gasoline on the fire man. I understand you are standing up for the community, and the community certainly appreciates it. However, flaming this guy isn't going to make him go away any faster. That, and I think Reaprar did more than a sufficient job of making this guy feel worthless.
I do agree with you though. Who fucking cares how the community reacted. This guy deserved it. He also took jabs at the integrity of our community and the professionalism of the employees of the website. Just let the guy wash the sand out of his vagina before you throw more in there.
I don't think his comments in the Steam forum are inflammatory. He's just trying to defend his game which for some reason he believes is good and most people aren't giving the demo a chance as they are just jumping on the "this game is shit fuck you Luc" bandwagon.
His comments on Dtoid though are out of line but then again so were a lot of community members.
See? We're all okay here. Not a big deal everyone.
Of course he has to act like it's amazing. Do you seriously think if a bad game is released the creator is gonna simply say, "Well it's not that great of a game guys, I'm not too sure you will enjoy it." of course not! I haven't played the game, but I'm guessing that it probably does deserve more than just a "1", but Luc's not gonna go saying "Trust Dtoid they reviewed my game and gave it a bad score." he's gonna either. a.) Give us reasons to still play the game or b.) Say that the game is good and that a bad review is wrong.
Doesn't make much sense, does it? He's taking people on the internet way too seriously and so they in turn will take him more seriously, to the point where they become like me: So annoyed and displeased with his existence that I don't even want to buy the game. If he had learned from this experience, I may have considered spending the measly 4.50 on the game to support him and his "noble efforts" in the future. Maybe he will make a great game one day. But I no longer like him just like he no longer likes us. So fuck his game.
I didn't quite get it the first 100 times
I don't get where you guys are coming from that anyone other than Luc Bernard went too far. Usually I can at least see the perspective even if I don't agree with it. But that guy has been on here acting like a pretentious twat for months and living off the enormous free press provided by Dtoid and then he attacks everyone because they don't like his game which is BROKEN? Please.
He needs to learn a lesson about not being a little baby and a douchebag to people. Obviously he didn't learn it in real life and maybe (thanks to his tissue thin skin) he'll learn it from the Internet. It's just too bad that every other site (if any of them bother to review it) will give it a 5 or 6 and he'll think he's been vindicated, all because he doesn't realize that just like a 1 on Dtoid those scores actually mean 0.
WHO. FUCKING. CARES.
That is all.
It's funny you say that...*pulls off eye patch*...cause I am Luc's evil twin brother!! He was brainwashed recently because I cheated on his ex-wife.
@brainderailment
Thank you, that was much needed.
you win sir....you win.
And really, who the fuck ever said it was our responsibility to fight the editor's battles for them anyway? When did it become necessary to line up like a good little sheep and shit on everyone who doesn't lavish praise on them or the site itself? These guys seem perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, and frankly, while I enjoy D-Toid as much as the next guy, textually savaging the guy like so many of you did served no other purpose than to make the community at large look like a bunch of fuck-wits. It wasn't justified, and wasn't called for no matter how much of a baby the guy was being.
Oh yeah, and you people need to stow the "Internetz, seriuz biznes, lol!" bullshit. Just because you can't be held accountable for saying this shit doesn't make it any less fucked-up. It still carries weight, just the same as it would if you said it to someone's face. Something that you likely wouldn't do. Gotta love the safety of the internet, eh?
Fucking hell.
I just don't think that there's much of an excuse for being an asshole, whether online or off. That it comes so naturally to some of you is pretty goddamned discouraging. The community is supposed to be above that shit, even if Luc isn't.
