About Me

Hey guys, it's Dan or as everyone here knows me (including you, because you're looking at my blog), EternalDeathSlayer. Yeah, I jacked it from Grandma's Boy, eat me. Anyway, I love video games, but more importantly I also love to talk about video games, hence why I am here on Destructoid with you. I've got a wonderful little family of 2 kids and a wife and we all play games in some shape or form. My wife enjoys WoW (probably a bit too much) and playing Halo with either myself or her friends. My kids like kid stuff like Kinectimals or flash games on the PC. And me? I like almost everything. So long as a game is fun or has the ability to effect my feelings or emotions, I'm game.

Consoles:

Xbox 360

PS3

Wii

I play them all, but truthfully it's not in an "All Consoles are Equal" sort of way. I prefer the 360, mainly because I know more people who own one, but I do play my PS3 whenever a worthy exclusive is released. The exclusives make the purchase worth it. As for the Wii, well, it gets ignored most of the time. But I pull it out from time to time, usually when a big Nintendo game is released for it.

My Favorite Games:

10. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
9. Gears of War
8. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Theme Song FTW)
7. Final Fantasy IX
6. God of War
5. Super Mario Galaxy
4. Chrono Cross
3. Super Mario Bros. 3
2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
1. Resident Evil 4

And there you have it. I love Destructoid and it's amazing community. I will probably never leave.

Strange View Askew Kevin Smith Wii Mod, Also: DS overtakes the PS2 in sales in Japan! It prints money!
EternalDeathSlayer | 11:51 PM on 12.28.2007 15 comments

First on the agenda is this Wii mod here. As you may have guessed from the title, this is a View Askew themed Wii. Why would someone create such a strange Wii mod? Because Kevin Smith himself commissioned it. Apparently he was a huge fan of the modder, some guy named Ramon who's work I've seen before. He was the creator of this wonderful Metroid Wii Mod:

Ramon was also responsible for a wonderful Zelda mod and a pretty cool although kind of pointless Rockstar Games mod. Personally I'd still be happy to own any of them, but this one just doesn't do it for me:

A Clerks Wii mod. While I enjoyed watching that particular movie, I certainly wouldn't want a Wii designed with it mind in my home. Then again, I'm not Kevin Smith. Still, I can't deny the skill and craft that went into making the damn thing. It's very well done and also very professional looking, as all of his mods are. This one's cool for Kevin Smith and I'm sure countless fans of his, but not for me.

Next up, it's time to celebrate! The DS has officially beaten the PS2 in overall sales, and it took 4 and a half years less time to do it! Yay!

Really, it doesn't matter and I could care less, but I figured I'd share the news with those who weren't aware of it. Everybody saw this coming anyway, as those Japanese people can't seem to get enough of quirky retreads of older more original quirky games. They love the DS over there! It prints money!

Gotta love that picture, it never gets old to me. But anyway, DS sales have shown no sign of slowing down in either Japan or America, or Europe for that matter. It's amazing what a phenomenon it's become, seeing popularity all over the world wherever there are people to buy it. It's easily defeated the PSP in sales and even with the recent surge in sales for Sony's portable it has no chance of being overtaken anytime soon. So it's safe to say it's probably on it's way to best selling console ever status.

Keep pumping out those quirky games that rape older and better quirky games for ideas. We'll keep lapping them up anyway, wont we?

BTW, this entire section about DS sales was all an excuse to use that picture in my blog.

The View Ashkew mod looks alright, except that the logo looks totally pasted on at the last minute.

I think it looks damn well made overall. Plus, it's pretty cool Kevin Smith commissioned it himself.

I bought a psp on the release but traded it in for the ds, though the psp games do look better, it's not as good as a portable.

@ Def JM: DS is certainly better, but I do love my PSP. It enables me to play games that are more traditional and similiar to some of my favorite PS2 games. Definitely not a bad thing to have. Plus, it plays my music and most importantly it allows me to now play FF7 or FF9 via remote play when my wife is playing Halo 3. That makes the PSP worth it to me, although I'll take the DS over it for the overall quality of original games.

Nice one heretic, I remember that pic well. It used to really piss me off too, but I could honestly care less.

Also, Mickey Mouse ears FTW
