I too don't get their advertising at all. Rather than trying to appeal to the very broad base of gamer demographics that are out there, they seem to be trying to appeal to a demographic that can't even play this game because it's rated M for mature. If you're old enough to be playing M rated games, chances are strong that you really don't care what your Mom thinks, and in fact it makes the game seem really childish.
Ironically, I know a lot of women that love the horror genre and really enjoyed the first game - they're also "moms". I myself am in an age bracket where I guess I could almost be a grandmother. Why would they want to deter this market from buying this game?? Does their advertising company not realize that gamers could be anybody nowadays?? Why would they want to deter an entire possible demographic from playing their game?
Ironically, I'm just installing the demo that I downloaded awhile ago, but the advertising campaign really turned me off of the game. What with all the other great games coming out, I may not even bother with the demo now.
