Edmund McMillen (Super Meat Boy) is asking for your help.
ErbilT | 3:57 PM on 10.06.2009 2 comments

Hello everyone,

Edmund McMillen, co-creator of such indie games as Meat Boy, Gish and the upcoming Super Meat Boy title for Nintendo's WiiWare downloadable service, had surgery on Sunday to remove an inflamed gallbladder. Although he is currently doing well and recovering from the surgery at home, I have seen some of his Facebook updates and found out that he does not have any insurance to cover this medical emergency. He has been asking for donations for assistance to help cover the medical costs and I asked him if it was okay for me to create a post with his PayPal information in case some people in the Destructoid community would care to assist and he agreed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Edmund McMillen a few weeks ago in Santa Cruz and he is genuinely a nice guy. So if you can, please show your support for Edmund and his family and donate what you can.

Thanks guys!

(Update: If you wish to make a donation straight to his email and bypass the link, it's souldescen@aol.com.)

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

 about me

Psst! Your balls are showing...

I guess I was a hardcore gamer before I knew what hardcore gaming was. I'm a 31 year old lifelong gamer who lives up in San Francisco who works in the gaming industry. I used to write for various small music webzines and was well on my way to living the life of a professional college student, but games are a hell of a lot more interesting than indie music snobbery. Anyway, Destructoid seems to be a fairly cool place for me to spout off my uninformed and biased opinions... So hi! I hope you are all doing well.

I'm almost always down for playing SSFIIHDR or Street Fighter IV on Xbox LIVE or in person.
