I was once rehabilitated... but I have fallen from grace
Endstiem | 5:38 PM on 02.18.2008 4 comments

I haven't obsessively played a Tekken game since the glory days of Tekken 3 for the PSX. My only experience with Tekken 4 and 5 had been random games whenever I noticed it in an arcade - more out of curiosity than anything else.

I thought I had been cured....

Last week I bought Tekken 5 for PS2 for about $20 (AU).

AND I FUCKING LOVE IT.

God help me... I can see myself wasting away for the next 6 months with this game.

(Yeah I know it's for Tekken 4, but you get what I mean)

Does Tekken still have that woodwn block character that mimicks fighting styles?

Yeah, Tekken 5 is pretty damn great. I liked the fact that they have the previous 3 Tekken games, but I don't know why they pass them off as "arcade versions" when they're just the PSX versions.

Jinpachi ruined Tekken, sure some other final bosses had some projectile attack but NOTHING like Jinpachi's cheapness, horrible boss and the final fight turns into you cheesing him to death with the one move he can't block, usually a throw.

I'd have to agree about Jinpachi being a cheap ass bastard.
Althought I once did get 2 perfect rounds with Feng using nothing but his cheap shoulder charge..... ahh, memories...

of last week....

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Bollocks.

Age: 25
Class: Experienced Fanatical Gamer
Perk: Achievement Whore, Ex-Nintendo Nazi

I'm an English/Australian living in Melbourne, Australia.

I love games (!!!), music, gigs, film, fucking, fucking on film, singin' and dancin', wasabi peas, Jack Daniels and sleep. Don't mind a bit of the old ultra-violence either.

My film tastes include Blade Runner, Tarantino flicks, Sin City, The Shining, Lord of the Rings, Die Hard With A Vengance, Bond flicks, etc.

My music tastes include alternative/indie/rock bands such as Faith No More and Kaiser Chiefs, through to metal acts such as Fear Factory, Opeth, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Devildriver and Lamb of God.

I also sing in a cover band, and enjoy headbanging to Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch. I have no shame.

I can speak and write Japanese, but have lost most of my ability to do so out of fear of becoming a Weeaboo.

Additionally, I would love to say that I am alcoholic, but I am not that cool.
