Japanese pop-star and Mother 3 Handbook = Excellent Friday!
ElfAngel7 | 11:26 PM on 03.27.2009 7 comments

Today was a severely win-filled day. Normally I work 12-5 on Friday's, then go out with my girlfriend and/or
my
friends. That's already an improvement from the rest of the week when I have to think about homework,
school,
etc. However, this Friday trumped other Fridays on several intense levels. I got the day off to go wait in line
in
South Beach in front of a make up store called Sephora. This isn't normally along my line of interests,
however
there was a guest coming later that night that warranted my early (at least for me) wake up.

For those that have played Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Utada Hikaru should be a familar. For those that are not,
she's an incredibly popular J-Pop star (she has the best selling album EVER in Japan) who sang the
openings of
both games. For some odd reason, Sephora was promoting her latest english album, This is the One and
they decided to send her to Miami. Being a devout fan of hers, I made sure to inform the correct parties, and
I
found myself in line with Taticakes,
SakuChan, [url=http://tomopop.com/index.phtml?
a=1141]Andres Cerrato[/url] of Tomopop fame, my friend Jabel and the one and only Colette Bennett!

Saku, Jabel, Me, and Taticakes, with Andres and fiancé in the background.

So after waiting for about 6-7 hours in line, we got in, without and RSVP no less! For details on the show,
keep
an eye out on Japanator, but after about an hour and some initial disappointment, everybody walked out with
a
signed photo of Utada, which made me week.

Utada pic, behind my Eye Up Yoko,
where
it will remain until I can afford a frame for it!

After the show, we all went out to an excellent Japanese restaurant. Post-dinner, we said our goodbyes and
went home. When I get home, I find an interesting package. Inside the package I find this!

My Mother 3 guide book came after months of anxious waiting. I
know Scary Womanizing Pig Mask already
made a post about his book, but I couldn't resist snapping a couple of photos of my book and the other
goodies it came with. Stuff like...

my Courage Badge, along with a sketch of Tessie and the Starman logo, which will be going on my car
tomorrow morning.

A good day overall I'd say :-D

Wow, you had an awesome day. I did as well. I went to Japan Town and picked up the Tekkon Kinkreet manga as well as a Yotsuba revoltech :)

I hate you. You get to meet Utada, hang out with Dtoiders in one of the nicest places in the world, and to top it all off you get your Mother 3 guide book in the mail.

And I'm stuck up here in Canada in below 0 degree celcius weather and a sore throat.

Sorry about the Safari fail. It's scheduled to be fixed this week along with the photo clipping

Thank you Niero!

@Garison
We didn't get a chance to meet her. It was more like a quick photo op than anything else, but it was still a good time.

@Seigfreid
Nice catches!

 about me

Nintendo gamer for life, begrudging owner of a PS3, aching for games for both of my consoles. Sigh.

I'm all about the RPG's, starting with Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG, all the way through Final Fantasy 6-12 (skipping 11) and ending up with Persona 3 and Ar Tenelico. Square is where its at, as long as its premerger. My opinion thereafter is low at best.

I'm also a HUGE anime fan, getting my cherry popped by a set of Dragonballs and a transexual boy/girl named Ranma. In the intervening years I've discovered the greatness of 'School Rumble', 'Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien', 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya', 'Elfen Lied', and basking in the glory that is 'Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo' and 'Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann'. I try to empty my wallet as quickly as possible collecting inglorious amounts of PVC statues and figures.

Speaking of statues and figures, I write a some-what weekly feature on sister site Tomopop called Go For Broke where I focus on a single series (both anime and non-anime) and provide pictures of different statues and info on where you can pick them up. Think of me of the pusher that doesn't directly sell you the stuff but points you in the right direction.

Enough pimping, let's rock!
