Fully agreed. I love how the montage has so few games in it. I have somewhat enjoyed this newest line of commercials, but this montage one is frickin terrible.
Thing is, the advert isn't intended for you. You'll buy a PS3 based on what games you know there are and all the complex features and stuff.
The average person won't see "multiplatform games", they'll just see a load of games that may or may not appeal to them, regardless if they can be bought elsewhere.

Selling a gaming system on games isn't the problem but when they use so few games that are actually exclusive to the console it makes a good 360 ad too. It odd that they would should so few games when everyone is almost in unanimous agreement that 2010 looks like one of the best years for the PS3 yet.
PlayStation 3. It only does EVERYTHING except play PS2 games...

I have to say that it also bothered me that they used very few games in the montage, but aside from that, I actually find these commercials to be humorous. I already own a PS3, though, so maybe I can't really look at it from a prospective buyer's point of view anymore.
I actually really like the new marketing campaign! For once, the overall campaign doesn't seem aimed at kids, it's humorous, and it's not trying to be "edgy" where you really have no idea what the hell they're advertising (the crying baby and the city walls ads).
The montage is good for people that don't own a PS3 - it shows games they likely know and don't know. It's good that they show both multiplat and exclusive games.
... it's not my favorite ad in this campaign... but I really like this ad campaign overall!!

i could care less, i have my ps3, and its the one that actually does do everything.
you can't win em all if you can't love em all.

They're kinda cheesy yeah, but it's far more relatable than crying babies and crow eggs.
And this commercial is seriously the worst - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTGAOKLQ3hs

If your PS3 is larger than the smallest, which I think is the 40G, there is a download from the playstation store to return PS2 backwards compatibility. Find it, install it, and you can stop complaining.
@Undeed:
I'm guessing you've never actually tried to use that update yourself. That enables PS3s that already *have* BC to allow PS2 games that need to install to a HDD (FFXI for example) to do so. Not to mention that update has been there since 2006.

The other montage commercial which is the one I see televised most, actually includes Ratchet & Clank and Little Big Planet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0-0CkrzyKg
Side Note: Demon's Souls (possibly), Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, GT5, Ratchet & Clank, and Little Big Planet... What more do you want?
Also, they would like to show games of varying genres that aren't exclusive (Do companies that manufacture televisions only play Bluray movies, in their advertisements, that their company produces? No).
Lastly, some PS3's do have Backwards compatibility... Just sayin'

Undeed: That's not what it does. And I'm not bitching- I'm just saying it's stupid to have a motto like that, just like it'd be dumb for Microsoft's Xbox 360 motto to be "It's HOT HOT HOT!"
Actually, the "penis thumb" ad wasn't made by Sony; it was some other agency.
And I think any commercial with that Kevin Butler guy is fucking hilarious.

I laughed my ass off at the montage ad when I saw it on a lunch break and I was stoked that it is on the Playstation Network as I've seen it like, 4 times now and have shown a couple of friends....it's dumb but dumb thak makes me lol is a-ok
The candle ad is funny as well.....................I like the new commercials.
I like tutrles.

While I do agree the montage ad was pretty poor (replace those multi-platform games with Demon's Souls and maybe a few older titles like LittleBigPlanet and Metal Gear Solid 4... maybe throw in one of your exclusive sports titles), would you expect the tag-line to be "It Only Does A Lot Of Things"?
You want to get a BC machine, I've seen a few at GameStop stores and there are always a few on eBay and Amazon. When it's a lot cheaper to just buy non-BC PS3 + PS2, the reason to have the feature flies far out the window. Oh boy, Upscaling! Is it really worth that much money?
