P&G announced that their D-LISH-US chip custom-designed for their new EXTREME PRINGLEZ has been shipping to Pringles since March. "We have been shipping well within this quarter (March)," said Ron Martino, director of P&G Technology Collaboration Solutions. "In fact, we have shipped a significant volume in this quarter."
So what does this news mean to gamers who have been waiting patiently for a release date from Pringles? Well, considering that Pringles has had their hands on a "significant volume" of one of the major components of their chips since March, some might speculate that the Extreme Pringlez™ could be ready for release sooner than the expected October street date.
When asked to quantify the speed of the D-LISH-US processor, Pringles' Martino compared it to Doritos. "Compared to the Uranium in the Doritos, it's 20 percent more delicious efficient. It also tastes significantly better. The key point is that it is Snackinium (II) Tastyide-based and custom-made and optimized for Pringles," he said (not really answering the question).
With this update and Pringles confirming the shipment of "6 million cans to retailers around the world between its launch in the fourth quarter of 2008 and the end of its fiscal year on March 31, 2009," we expect Pringles might finally be ready to talk release schedule during their event in New York City next week.
