Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars americanized intro song sucks
EdgyDude | 7:04 PM on 10.15.2009 17 comments

If anyone has seen the original japanese intro for TvC you'll know how awesome it is and a great deal of that comes from the great song (Across The Border) performed by Asami Abe, that song plus the well made anime style animation just pumped you up for the magnificent game you were about to enjoy. It's american bastardization on the other hand feels just so mediocre and generic in comparison it hurts to listen. Since an image(or video in this case) is worth a 1000 words i'll just let you hear the difference by yourselves.

ORIGINAL JAPANESE INTRO

AMERICAN INTRO

Eh, I saw this coming. It's much better than that Indestructible crap, and to be honest, I enjoy both versions. Actually, I think I prefer the English one.

The music's fine... The video sucks in the American version.

Eh, it's not something I'd buy a CD for, but it's nowhere as bad as it could have been...as Pedro says, though, the movie itself is a lot less interesting.

I didn't want to comment on the video much because i can't seriously believe that IS the actual intro but a presentation video, still, to me the song got horribly adapted in the sense that the translation doesn't bother me as much as the sudden hip-hop like parts, like i said, mediocre and generic.

I don't see the problem. As Krow said, not Indesturctable. I personally like the american version song but the Jap opening animation is obviously better. Japanese song is still good but you know...i've heard worse.

As long as that video isn't the actual intro, I'll be fine.

Wait so the japanese get a fucking amazing anime intro while we get a Flash slideshow?

The music doesnt bother me that much, it kinda reminds me of MvC2

I like the American version more. Sorry, but the Japanese version just sounds horrible to me.

The american song was not as bad as it could have been, I believe that it is pretty mediocre while the Jap version was better I was still not a bit fan of either song.
The american version did get a horrible opening in comparison but still not that bad.
The real question for me is how will the voice acting be handled?

@Clockwork-Zombie: If I recall, it will support both Japanese and American voice options. So, it shouldn't be an issue.

and last I checked, that video isn't even the opening. It was just a trailer revealing the confirmation of Frank West and Tekkaman Blade.

That is good to hear, I always prefer it when games give me the option to choose which voice track I want.

It's a Capcom fighting game. If the music wasn't cheesy and semi-horrible, I would be disappointed.

And for the record, I freakin' love "Indestructible"! I sing it out loud waaaaaaay too much.

Indestructible is the greatest.

Actually, both suck; Indestructible forever!

The visuals for the Japanese one are tons better, but the song isn't all that great. Only part about the US intro I don't like is the awful rapping. If it dumped that it'd be decent.

while obviously the Japanese version is better, the American into reminds me a bit of Persona 3, which can't be a bad thing.
