I'm a ridiculously obsessed pet collector. It gets to the point I will hunt for a pet for three to five days and ignore the "important" part of warcraft, that is raiding with a bunch of pretentious gamers who enjoy throwing all epics to their friends (who usually suck donkey dong).
I've got 57 pets, and they kick some major ass! tons of rares, tons of limited editions, and I even got that friggin' gorilla "Bananas" who i think looks like a hairy homeless child...that's just me :P there are websites that help you track those little bastards that consumed so many precious WoW hours on getting those pets : warcraftpets.com. Great website, comprehensive pet details in conjugation with wowheads.com help get you in the right place/right time/right mobs for that special pet of your dreams (oh whelps....how i want you all....)
the best thing about pet collecting is that I've been doing it since before it was an actual achievement. my bank was full, literally full, of every pet in every color. my brother and friends who play WoW thought i was an idiot. Then, when i got all those pets back in the mail after the WOTLK patches, i wasn't so retarded afterall! i got all my pets mailed to me and made myself some gold on the ones that my brother didn't want (got him the achievement, your welcome u fuckin' mooch!! haha) the Blizz team didn't take into account that i had all my pets in the bank still, good luck for me eh?
wow, wtf am i trying to say about pet collecting? am i trying to validate the fact that i spend way too much time on this game, to the point where i can collect the little pets the Blizz team decided to toss in to make the players who suck but still wanna spend the $$ every month to play something to do??
no, i think im promoting the collection of pets. shit, it should be glorified! collecting things in rpg's, no matter what game it may be. final fantasy had a million different kinds of collecting aspects from FF8's card game (kickass part of the game, actually the only reason i beat the game :P) to the esper madness and chocobo breeding to name a few more, but you get the idea.
I guess what i'm trying to get at is that the collecting aspects of games can make or break a games replay value for some of us gamers. i love to collect shit in RL, but my apartment is tiny and i'd rather it be some digital item, it's cheaper and my cats wont claw the shit out of it!
Collect on!
