Today's character is kind of nerdy looking. He would definitely fit in at a renaissance faire in the outfit he's always got on. He's a loyal servant to a tyranical dictator, and sometimes he's even been the focus of a game as the big bad guy that causes all the trouble. He's first party, and he's in an awful lot of games. Today's character is:
Kamek, the Magikoopa
B: Fireball - Ouch, it burns! Kamek uses his dark magic to channel a fireball through his wand, hitting an opponent for a maximum of 10% fire damage.
< or >B: Wand Blast - This time, Kamek uses his dark magic to channel a circle of squares and triangles to blast at her opponent. If this attack hits an opponent, it'll do a maximum of 7% dark damage. Don't worry if you miss though, because if this move hits any other solid thing, it'll turn into a koopa! Try to bop him and use his shell.
^B: Teleport - Kamek uses this move to be a nuisance to Mario, and that won't change any for brawl! This move does no damage, but it's a good way to get around the tscreen and recover when you're smashed. You can choose which direction you teleport in by hitting a direction after inputting the move.
vB: Mirror Spell - Kamek waves his wand in front of him in a figure eight pattern, creating a magical shield that will deflect any projectiles back to their source. This move doesn't do any damage, but it can turn the tides of a fight when used properly!
Final Smash: Black Magic - Kamek believes in
black magic. So much so, that he uses it on himself! Kamek casts a spell that makes him double his size, and gives him the ability to fly around the stage! Any of Kamek's attacks will hit for an additional 45% damage, so any hit can be a deadly blow! He'll only stay like this for 8 seconds though, so make it count!
Kamek's Stage:
This stage is inspired by Yoshi's stage from Super Smash Bros. for the N64. It's set in the Yoshi's Story universe, but it's high up in the clouds! There are plenty of clouds for you and your opponents to duke it out on, but they'll disappear after about 15 seconds. In this stage, you really have to stick and move, hit and run! Also, shy guys will fly in from the edges of the screen carrying a platform big enough for one person to stand on. You can never stay in one place for too long, so this stage really favors gliding characters and heavy hitters.
Hazards:
The entire stage is set up as a hazard... The shy guys don't stick around for very long, so make sure not to spend too much time resting on their shoulders or you'll be flown off the stage!
Considering that Kamek's a first party character that's featured in most of the recent Mario games, I'd say that his chances of getting into Brawl are about as good as
Big Boo's chances of getting in. I'm not really sure how the rest of his move set would play out, but I'm sure Sakurai and company would come up with something. Beyond that, he's a light weight, quick, bad guy in a game that's full of
heavy-weight no goodniks. Will he appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Well, a magician never reveals his - (excitedly) I sunk it. At least I think I sunk it. I mean, I blew it up and I don't see it anywhere!
Bonus points to anyone who knows where that last line's from.
Come back tomorrow for more rampant, unfounded speculation as I count down the days until the US release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl!
As always, if you've missed any of the old updates due to the holiday season (or just want to go back and read or discuss about your favorite predictions) then just go here. I'll keep the links current, so you can bookmark the page and check back later for any updates.
