Today's character is a real monster! With talons of steel, and fire in it's belly, it's a truly menacing contender! Today's character is:
Meta Ridley!
Now, the Ridley I have in mind for this character wouldn't be permanently metal, as that would be one of his special moves...
B: Breathe Fire - Meta Ridley breathes white hot fire, burning anything in his path. This move handles exactly like Bowser's
Fire Breath, so just think of that when you think of this move.
< or >B: Cluster Shot - Meta Ridley shoots 3 homing missiles out of his back at his opponents. These missiles aren't very accurate, so you'll still want to aim them at your opponents. If they hit, they'll do a maximum of 8% damage.
^B: Dive Bomb - Meta Ridley flaps it's wings three times to get some air, and then he swoops down in the direction he was facing when the move was used! Get out of his way, or he'll smash into you for a maximum of 21% damage!
vB: Metal Shell - Meta Ridley covers itself in a metal shell for 5 seconds, giving himself metal status and all the perks (and punishments) that come along with it.
Final Smash: Missile Salvo - Ridley's received the signal... he's unleashing hell! Meta Ridley flies high up to one of the corners of the stage and launches around 15 missiles at the stage. Each missile hits for 30% damage, so try to avoid these if you're fighting against it!
Meta Ridley's Stage:
This stage is based on the first scene in Super Metroid. The stage is set on an out of control space station... the entire stage rotates! There are walls on the right and left sides of the screen, but sometimes they rotate off, and when they do, you better make sure you're not hit over there!
Hazards:
Beyond the hazard of falling to your doom in a spinning stage, the platforms will also periodically spit out steam at their ends, which will hit for 5% damage.
Ridley, Ridley, Ridley, seems like
everyone wants him in this game! What can you expect though, he's the
Metroid franchise's trademark enemy, and he even appeared in the opening of
Super Smash Bros. Melee! Since that time, fans have been rabid about the possibility of Ridley being a playable character.
His chances of being in the game are pretty good. In fact, I'd say that he's got the best chance out of all of the characters I've profiled in this feature, save for the ones that have already been in the game. He's a heavy weight, which the series needs. He's also a "glider", which would make him the only one of his kind. And finally, he's from the sorely under represented Metroid series. Let's hope that Sakurai didn't see only a boss character in Ridley, and has made it a full fledged playable character!
Come back tomorrow for more rampant, unfounded speculation as I count down the days until the US release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl!

Now that you brought it up, it got me thinking an awesome assist trophy would be a Metroid.
I kinda don't want Ridley to be in the game in any form, because he would have to be shrunk down so much. Part of the allure of any boss is how much bigger they are than the player character, and since this wouldn't (likely) be consistent in Brawl I don't want Ridley to be in the game.
i thought this was going to be about the universal remobot.
Ridley = yes. As long as he's the same general size as Charizo-sausage-ard or Bowser, awesome.
@ Spitfire: There is a Metroid assist trophy.
Ridley will probably be in the game some way shape or form. Even if its just as a Subspace Emissary boss or AT. I wouldn't mind seeing Sylux or Trace playable from Metroid Prime Hunters. It looks like they're going to try to incorporate Sylux more in the Metroid series anyway given his/her cameo at the end of MP3.
With Rayquaza and Petey Piranha already confirmed, it seems like Ridley is the exact sort of dragon/dinosaur thing that Sakurai wants as a boss in the Sub Space Emissary.
Now the real question is, what are the chances of bosses being playable?
Oooo man that would make the Single player campaign much more worth it with Ridley as a boss.
