About Me
I am a videogame and movie geek currently seeking a job in the film industry, either writing or directing, and trying to make the most of my simple high school life. I love to play games of all kinds, including Street Fighter IV and Halo Reach, so hit me up and we'll chat n' play. Or something.

SUMS IT UP: Lord of the Rings: Conquest

I want to stop you here, reader, and warn you that I’ve NEVER WATCHED ANY LOTR MOVIES. Or read any books.. or listened to any tapes. etc etc. I've basically been avoiding this series for no reason. What the fuck is wrong with me? I KNO RITE LULS. So I know NOTHING of LOTR lore. Sorry. So.... This game.. aww, this game, I wanted it to be good, so bad. For the most part it was. It was addicting and I kept wanting to play it.. It's just.. BRAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGH HULK MAAAAAD!! *tosses controller into TV, esplodes very aggressively*

If you haven’t guessed already, this game can be frustrating as FAWK. I'll go into full detail in the review here.

Campaign: 9/10
Very fun and not as.. *twitch* n-not as controller-breaking as Multiplayer can be. Co-Op has to be the ultimate redeeming quality. Nothing is more fun than taking down ARMIES along side a pal. There is a lot of replay value in that. Like say you'll challenge yourself to play nothing but one class for one mission. etc. Take note I’m not THAT far into it and I’ve yet to play the evil campaign. So far my experience has been crystal clear and I’m going off of that. The only problem is that you can fall off places easily and then die.

Multiplayer: 6.5/10
The multiplayer is good. The problem is that there are SO MANY CHEAP DEATHS. Worse then the accidental falling off of a cliff in campaign. I think I know the cause of this problem; It takes like three FUCKING seconds to get up after being knocked down. That's about a year in sitting duck time. So if you aren’t a Warrior or a Scout, otherwise unprepared to go toe-to-toe with an enemy warrior or an enemy scout, good luck. They'll SPAM and SPAM until their power meter runs out. Then they'll toss their axe or claymore as soon as you get up and... Shit just goes on and on in a circle of "Tat's buwlsheet!"(Lul where's my chocolate milk mom) There is also a problem with the health bars. Considering that usually NOBODY on my team plays the mage, it's very hard to recover from anything. Especially being poisoned. Bigger health bars maybe? It's not the developers fault that nobody plays the mage, I guess. They should raise the health bars in an update, though. Take responsibility please! Otherwise, I suppose the Multi is fun and addicting. Even though I just went on spouting a lot of crap about it, I still play it. I don’t know why, I just keep coming back to it.

OVERALL
7/10(Worth full purchase if you don’t have anger management issues)

I've read the books in like middle school (like 8-9 years ago) and watched the movies and enjoy them, so I'm a "casual" LOTR fan and was looking foward to this game mainly for the fact that it's done by Pandemic, battlefront II style, but with LOTR, but after playing the demo and hearing mediocre things, I'm still on the fence about this. Initial hearing about it was "INSTA-BUY", but after more exposure.

The fact you gave it a 7/10 and you don't like LOTR at all is interesting though, and slightly encouraging for myself to buy it.

Actual question, how many players can you have on each side at once? I heard something like 8 vs. 8 but I haven't heard any concrete answers.

Thanks!

Yep, it's 8.

LOTR.. yeah, ever since it was created, it was a total turn off for me. The only reason I was so hyped over this game is that my friends forced me to play the demo and I had a pretty good time, for the most part.

So in other words, the only good part of the game is the soundtrack, which I already own?

This game was terrible. I'm a huge LoTR fan and was a huge fan of the Battlefront games, this game fails at both. There have been so many better LoTR games made. IMO this one is just a quick cash in and is flawed on so many levels.

Each campaign took about 3-4 hours and then the multiplayer is an unbalanced mess. Spawn points are never used during the game, the enemy never takes them back from you, every level is almost completely linear.

In Battlefront almost every level is wide open and symetrical so if you spend too much time on one side the enemy will eventually break through on the other. In Conquest since all levels are linear there is no opportunity to lose ground, which neglects the whole challenge of having different spawn points across a map.

The bosses were overpowered and could only be beat by spamming or tricking the AI neither of which feels skillful. Wizards suck, you can never know when your chain lightning will kill one enemy or twenty.
