PC Friday Night Fights: Memories of Vana'diel

Some of you may have seen the new trailer for Final Fantasy XIV, where Bahamut tears Eorza a new one. If you haven't, I've provided it below. The trailer has had me reminiscing of days past from when I played Final Fantasy XI. FFXI was the first MMO I ever played, and it's still my favorite. While it doesn't hold up today next to others like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2, the experiences I had in it have stood out for years as some of my favorite gaming experiences. The stories told in Vana'diel were fantastic, I made a ton of friends who I sitll talk to today, and I even got married in the game. I was hoping Final Fantasy XIV was going to capture what was great about FFXI and update it for today's MMO market, but unfortunately they didn't do a great job with it. I'm excited for A Realm Reborn because I want FFXIV to be a great new MMO with a fantastic story and great experiences, just like FFXI. My fingers are crossed.

For our games tonight, we have the usual. I'll be doing a Mann vs. Machine game in Mann Up, so if you join me, please have tickets. As for the Dtoid TF2 server, we're going to have birthday mode turned on for the week. It's someone's birthday next week (Here's where I wink and nudge but whatever I'm too lazy but not really since I'm typing this sentence). So then, shall we?

New to Friday Night Fights? It's easy to get involved!

FIRST OFF, READ THIS

Every Friday the Dtoid community gets together to play games online! Friday Night Fights is run completely by the Destructoid community, so feel free to join in someone's game, or host a game yourself!

The planning for FNF starts here in the forums, where community members volunteer to host matches and post their pertinent details (game, time, Steam ID, etc.). Then, every Friday, remininder posts go up in the cblogs followed by a recap post in the front page for last-minute planning.

If you'd like to join a game, just contact the host of the game! If you'd like to host a game, post your details in the following format:

Game Name
Host: Dtoid username
Steam ID: Steam contact info (If you'd prefer to use something other than Steam for people to contact you, please specify here.)
Time: Time (Eastern Please!)Server: (If any)
Password: (If any)
Note: Any other applicable info about the game.

See you online!
