Welcome to the home of PS3 Friday Night Fights here at Destructoid.
Friday Night Fights is a weekly event here at Destructoid where we, community members, cooperate with or murder each other online. There is a forum thread for planning and then a blog post here with the final schedule. Keep an eye out for both them if you want to play some games.
• Keep yourself up to date on the schedule. The list in the forums can change several times throughout the week.
• Leave a message with your PSN name and which games from the schedule you want to play. More people will play if other people are playing, so speak up.
• Send a PSN friend request to the person hosting the game which includes a message with your Dtoid name. If you leave out who you are on the site, they might think you're just a random friend request and ignore you.
To Host
• If you want your game listed on the schedule, we need the game, the time, and your PSN ID. We need the specific game, not an abbreviation that applies to more than one; a start time, even if you're playing "all night"; and we need your PSN ID even if you think we know it already.
• Don't worry about hosting the same game or hosting a game at the same time as someone else. Instead, think of it like a movie theater; more than one game can run at the same time.
• Make sure you have at least an hour to play. That's only two or three matches of the average shooter and those go by pretty quick.
• Check the comments, on both the forum post and the cblog when it goes up on Friday, to see if someone has said they'll play. You might have missed their PSN message or your friend list might be full.
Because no one else is going to post about Soul Sacrifice DLC
I have completed all the missions in Soul Sacrifice, but the game is not yet over. We're behind the Japanese version by about three releases. Next week, we get the pack called (if I'm reading the Japanese wiki correctly) "Time of Amber", with new bosses Dullahan (above) and Behemoth (a tree), and a high difficulty Jack-o-Lantern that is theoretically more likely to give out those precious, precious ++'s. Personally, I'm not sure it's anything but random, but it will give out medium and large boss spells more easily either way.
And what sort of Sony-themed event would we be if we didn't take a few jabs at the other guys? You can now have a thousand friends, and they have given you enough space for all of them inside a 1980's VCR. They can use cloud processing to render background stuff, so your games will look worse offline, but that's ok because you have to register them online anyway. There's the "option" to charge for used games, because, as we know, nobody is going to go for that. It doesn't work without kinect plugged in and nothing ever goes wrong with that. But hey, it has vibrating triggers. That's something, right? Also I've heard it's smelly and that people who like it are dumb.
My one real criticism of it is the fixed hard drive. Hard drives are one of the few mechanical parts left in computer hardware, and the only one that breaks down more than them is case fans. I've had them go out in my own PCs and once in my PS3. When I worked IT at a university, it wasn't uncommon to send one or two back to manufacturers for replacement when we received a large shipment. If you can't replace the drive and the drive dies, then you're replacing the whole system or sending it to Microsoft to have them do it.

Welcome to the PS3 side of Destructoid's Friday Night Fights! Every Friday, members of the Destructoid community get together online to play games and all you need to join is a user account. Down below, you'll find a list of games that we'll play tonight along with the times they'll start, the people that you should hit up for invites, and any other information that you may need.
If you want to play, leave a comment with the games from the schedule you want to play and your PSN name. You should also send a PSN friend request to the host, including a message to say who you are here on Destructoid so they know you're one of the cool people and not just some random friend request.
If your favorite game isn't on the schedule, host it yourself! You just need to give us the game, start time, and your PSN name so we can put it on the schedule. Last minute additions in the comments here are fine, but games can also be added earlier in the week by visiting the forums and finding the thread with the coming Friday's date. Adding a game there ensures it's on the blog from the moment it goes up.
If you haven’t already listened to this album, Anamanaguchi’s Endless Fantasy, or Junip’s new album (titled, Junip.), you should probably get to that. This week is like an endless surge of great music, and I've been enjoying every moment of it. Coupled with the music is the added notion of a few great titles I myself have picked up. I've never played a Syndicate title, but this Syndicate game is really really good! Very challenging gunplay and stylish designs all around.
I also got Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing Transformed. Absolutely the best kart-racer I've played since Diddy Kong Racing and CTR. It improves on the Mario Kart formula so much, it's scary. Did you know it sold a cool 1.5 Million so far? That's awesome!
Anyway, here're some games.

Finally started Dragon's Dogma. Above is an image of what *would* have happened had I not accidentally let the damn thing get away. Fuck that giant bird monster creature and its wings not immediately starting on fire when I stabbed it with firey infused steel.
Anywho, I was disappointed to discover that the Adventure Demo character I had created didn't carry over into Dark Arisen as I was pretty pleased with him and my pawn's face, but I think I got the basic gist back anyway so it was less irritating than it could have been.
The game is a lot of fun with solid combat, and the Pawn system is neat. I've been using ClockworkZombie's pawn and it absolutely wrecks shit which was great until I got distracted watching it and died... Three or four times... So now I've got that sorted all seems to be well. I agree with, well everyone really, that it would be an amazing co-op game, rock three or four people in a group and go out adventuring? Oh hell yes. Hopefully next time we'll get something more along those lines.

One of the many things I follow online is news about comics. Something that came up semi-recently (or not at all recently, perhaps, due to skipping weeks) was Wonder Woman. A porn parody, to be specific. My question? What episode of the Twilight Zone are we living in that the porn parody costume looks both better produced and more authentic than the one from the pilot for a real, official television show? In their defense, the TV show people did actually try to fix theirs a little bit following the reaction to the promo shot. They made the boots red, found some pants that don't look like they're made from pool toy plastic, and did away with the hooker-tastic makeup.
That really doesn't change that, regardless of it's source, the other one is just flat out better. It's a classic design with the more ridiculous elements fixed up; just a couple of stars, more muted colors. Say what you like about the trend for modern movie costumes, but I think bright colors on costumes like that tend to look ridiculous rather than authentic. It even looks more reasonable in the bust.
I understand they are going to try again on a WW show due to the success of Arrow. With any luck, someone will realize a hoplite style skirt looks better than both of them.
PS-- Alright, guys. I work full time and occasionally try to sleep at night. The thread was dead for two days. I might get the others added on my break.

If your favorite game isn't on the schedule, don't just sit there and whine about it. Anyone can host a game for FNF! You just need to give us the game, start time, and your PSN name so we can put it on the schedule. Even the monsters are surprised the Vita has games.
It appears you need to play through the first chapter of the Soul Sacrifice demo before you have the ability to play online. The wizard trial, or whatever it's called, is six parts and not too difficult. I think I only died once while learning the controls, and that was after I broke my healing spell. Spamming is bad. But then there's all sorts of arm seals and spell crafting and upgrading and big, ridiculous hats in the character customizer.
Instant game collection is better than I imagined too. For my year subscription, I got Uncharted, Disgaea 3, Gravity Rush, and Wipeout straight away. If my PS+ ever lapses and I still want to play these games, I'm sure they'll be cheap enough to just buy and it will be worth it if I'm still hooked on them over a year later.
