I'm excited. I got an email the other day notifying me that I've been selected for the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta! I've been looking forward to FFXIV's relaunch ever since they announced it, especially since I was not impressed with the original game. On top of that, I played Final Fantasy XI for years, and with FFXIV being so disappointing, I'm hoping it'll be more successful in doing what made FFXI did well, while updating the mechanics to be more up todate, and maybe surpass, today's MMO standards. Unfortunately, for now, I'm not allowed to give my impressions due to an NDA. But once I'm allowed to say more, you'll most likely hear from me here on the cblogs.

Sim City came out this week, and boy what a fiasco that's been. EA and Maxis were not prepared for the popularity of the game, and it's been the controversy of the year the week. It's kind of sad, to be honest. It's quite an unfortunate, because the game looks pretty awesome, and I've heard good things about it from the lucky few who have actually had the chance to play it. I don't think the game should be judged on this mishap, but I don't think people should turn the other cheek either. When you release a product, it should be playable. Yeah, there may be some hiccups here and there when it comes to online functionality, but having the game be nearly unplayable for three days is pretty ridiculous. Yet another case as to why single player functionality shouldn't be tied to online servers. Hopefully EA will make it up to the players affected, but unfortunately for them, it may be too late.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go reticulate my splines. Yes, that's a euphamism for play with my dick.
