Breaking News: New City of Heroes Expansion
DrkAdonis | 11:16 PM on 05.11.2009 7 comments

It has been accidentally leaked (via an email that wasn't supposed to be sent yet) that City of Heroes will be receiving its second official expansion pack, titled "Going Rogue."

From the email:

"Paragon Studios™ is proud to officially announce the next City of Heroes® expansion, City of Heroes Going Rogue™! This will be the first major expansion for the City of Heroes franchise since the launch of City of Villains® in 2005.

Praetoria, a utopian mirror to our own world, hides a dark secret. Exploring this mysterious alternate earth, the heroes and villains of this world feel an uneasiness of doubt creep over them. Loyalties are questioned. Choices are made. Lines are drawn. As they search for the truth behind Emperor Cole and his Praetorian guard, brutal foes and fierce allies emerge, turning this once blissful paradise into a battle ground.

City of Heroes Going Rogue officially opens the "mirror universe" of Praetoria and an all-new alignment system that explores the shades of gray that lie between Heroes and Villains. For the first time, Hero characters can become Villains and vice versa, enabling Heroes to cross over to the Rogue Islesâ„¢ and Villains to experience Paragon Cityâ„¢.

For more information, read the official press release and check out our new Going Rogue website to view the announcement trailer and register for the latest news and updates for City of Heroes Going Rogue."

I really didn't think anyone still played CoH.

CoH is one of the few MMOs on the market that makes money, man. It's got one of the most dedicated communities out there.

Aside from WoW being what it is, CoH is one of the better-off games, thanks to the awesome dev team.

The CoX universe is growing, and NCSoft is in the black in a time when other gaming companies are having a hard time keeping their doors open.
With 3-4 Free “Issues” a year and the recently formed Paragon studio’s there on a roll now that the user base can create their own missions and share them, a supportive Dev team, in game GM’s that are helpful. Booster pack’s that the community are eating up, I have yet to find another game that is as dynamic as City of X. and have been a subscriber since august 2004.
And yes, there are a lot of people playing this MMO.

Thank you DRKADONIS for the post.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
