For about a year I have been lurking around Destructoid, listening to the podcasts, and reading the front page articles. I originally made this account to post questions for Podtoid and RetroforceGO, but after a couple weeks of doing that I started to dig into the cblogs. I have enjoyed quite a bit what people have said, and over time I have been inspired to do a couple of my own cblog entries.
Hello everyone! My name is Chris, Computer Networking major, gamer, and now amateur blogger! I play pretty much any genre, but I will always have a special place in my heart for the games of yesterday. But I think you might have already got that idea from seeing my Kirby avatar.
I have gaming since 1988 when I picked up my cousin’s NES controller and played Mike Tyson’s PunchOut!. The following Christmas of that year when I got a NES of my own, I became a gamer. Throughout my childhood I went through system after system, NES, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, Saturn, PS1,PS2, DC, and XBOX, playing any game I could get my hands on. I do have a 360, Wii, DS, along with this PC.
Most of my favorite games of last year I have the articles and people of Destructoid to thank for mentioning. Games like Rez HD, Ikaruga, and Braid. A lot of the indie games like Gamma Bros, and Dino Run have kept my sanity between college classes. Without Destructoid I would probably still be playing World of Warcraft 24/7.
As for the games that I play now, yeah I still play WoW, but much more casually than I did in the past. I will play mostly play PC games like Left 4 Dead or Warcraft 3 with the group of people I hang with from WoW. When I’m not doing that I’m playing the downloadable games on my 360 or my Super Mario Galaxy Player (aka: Wii).
For my all time favorite game, I will have to say that it’s Earthbound. I can go on and on about that game, but the reason why I still think it’s the best because of all of the creepy moments. I know everyone talks about the Giygas fight at the end of the game, but what about the Mu Training scene?
What will you expect see from me in future cblog entries? Well since the Destructoid has introduced me to a lot of games I probably wouldn’t have played otherwise, I will try to return the favor by writing about some games no one might heard of. Maybe every once in awhile I will voice my opinion about something game related, but you can pretty much expect me to talk about retro games quite a bit.
I hope to make some new friends in the Destructoid community. I will leave you with this video.
Hey there. I literally just joined 10 hours ago. So we're in the same boat. Earthbound is amazing; you must play Mother 3. Going to pass on the warm welcome I got and say it's nice to have you here at Dtoid!
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
