While im sure plenty of you saw the so-called instore poster for SOF3 and scoffed, though were definately curious. Well, according to
kotaku's man its been officialized.
While im ecstatic about it, there were 3 things that bothered me...
quoted from kotaku:
"Firstly, Raven, the developer of the previous two games, is not involved. Despite this, Williams said they will be bringing back the gib-enhancing GHOUL technology... it just won't be GHOUL. He didn't even say GHOUL. Just gibs."
- so no Raven (sad)
- no GHOUL or GHOUL2.0 (sadder)
- and this is the be a budget title?
at first i was giddy. then the realization that it wouldnt be right to release a game so soon with little to no info leaked about its imminent release. then thrilled to see it was indeed true that it was coming out in november. only now its released that there are some changes to my beloved game.
Ive been annoyed since i lost my old copy of SOF2 and havent been able to shoot the face off a russian in a yellow raincoat but now this.
While they promise gibs... I was hoping for the promise of quality, not commodity.
Either way, I want to see a demo and be the final judge... SOF3 cant possibly be that bad... can it?
(waiting with baited breath for Jack Thompson to subpoena Activision..)
I knew in the back of my mind with them getting this close to release, not having any information wasn't a good sigh. I was hoping it just meant the release wasn't really this close.
I've been wanting a new SOF game for years now... I'm not sure that I want this one though. It'd be nice to see some screenshots or gameplay footage.
nothing like taking an amazing franchise and shipping it off to your valueware teams. Can you imagine the public outcry if they did the same thing to the Hitman series or something like that?
anyway, I liked the jihad mod on SOF2, hours of fun in Barnstorm
actually, from reading the article and then looking up SOF2 on wiki, it looks to have the same number of impact zones : 36. it just wont use GHOUL2.0 or considering this to be a "next-gen"er, a GHOUL3.0...that never exists... but should.
