Well, I hate to say it, but Halo 3. It didn't really change much from Halo 2 gameplay wise. Sure, there are alot of extra "next gen" features like Saved Films and such, but the gameplay is what we were seeing in the last generation.
im gonna start by saying HALO 3. Im not a hater, im actually a big fuggin fan of the series but it all boils down to the same game.
Also this seems like an elaborate scheme to get people to hate on Halo 3 .....
I've only played Wii games mostly... but there are a LOT of least next-gen titles on that. Anybody that says Wii isn't next-gen... the controller counts in MY book.
ANYWAY... MOST ports for Wii suck... and about 80% of the titles available just plain FAIL as well. I'm talking about all the tiles that are all about the "COULDA" and never about the "SHOULDA."
For example... what on earth is THIS?

I don't know about you, but I'm not about to find out what this game entails... Pal's Hot Sex... PART 2?! - WTF?! ... Ooooh... Horses... Right.
(But then there IS sweet-sweet-sweet-sweet-sweet victory in those few others)
A better question is, what games have I played that are next gen in terms of gameplay?
Like with Hollywood, original ideas in gaming don't make much money these days, and there fro rarely see the light of day. Everything is a sequel or a remake, because they all have pre-installed fan bases. But they also tend to be as boring a dry crackers on white bread.
Hence my "Not exciting" post a few doors down.

If this was a forum post, then I would reply with Halo 3
Well, what does "next-gen" gameplay mean? Do you mean genre-defining games only? Or does that also mean games like Uncharted, Gears, Heavenly Sword, or Super Mario Galaxy, which just change the kind of quality we expect from existing genres? Or does next-gen mean that we have changed the way we expect to play games (i.e. Wiimote, Achievements, DLC). There's a zillion different discussion that could come from the words "next-gen".
I think haloz 1 are next gen cause i think it was the first console game with a gernade button.
You definitely forgot Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy. Oh and Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is extremely next-gen in my eyes.
For your original question, my answer is Spider-man 3
HAHAH!! imbeta fails!
What's next-gen about Smash Bros. Brawl? Online play? And Gears of War or Uncharted?
Games with next-gen gameplay, or rather gameplay practically impossible on the previous gen's systems, in my opinion: Dead Rising for its crowd mechanics, Wii Sports' motion control, Stranglehold for (the personally disappointing) destructible environments, Metroid Prime 3 for its aiming interface, Halo 3 for Forge, Elder Scrolls Oblivion for world building/scope, and Fight Night Round 3 for the visual representation of damage taken.
Did we keep calling last gen "next-gen" until this current gen came out?
Why does it feel like I'm in crazy land?
Bioshock, Gears of War and Halo 3.
...No, not really.
Ehrm, Perfect Dark Zero.
Heavenly Sword, (although the cutscenes are pretty "Next-Gen") It's basically like any other brawler with it's own unique twist on the combat system. Three weapons in one switchable on the fly, Devil May Cry 3 did this (although with 2 weapons).
Gears of War, when I first picked it up, I thought it was Kill.Switch with roadie run and shiny graphics. Although that part with the Kri, and the Fenix Estate were cool levels.
Half-Life 2: Episode 2 is considered a next-gen game, but it did absolutely nothing new for the genre... Portal on the other hand, is very fresh, I think it's the first non-violent, non-shooter shooter I've ever really finished feeling super satisfied and great.
As for next gen: I define next-gen as experience made only possible on a new system and has no precedent, Thus: Fl0w, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect (Holy Fucking Wowsome universe, although framerate is allaround shit...), The cinametic feel of the gameplay, shooting and traversal, in Uncharted. Portal as mentioned above... That's prety much it I think...
DrPirate, you missed Oblivion which was, to me, the FIRST truly next-gen game.
THE SHITTY SUPERMAN GAME!!!!
It would of been good if it was a free java game
