So I was reading some articles on Escapist Magazine, and I saw a post involving Guitar Hero. Naturally, I 'ran' to read it, and didn't like what i read at all.
You can read the article
here.
For those of you too lazy to read, it states that Charlie Daniels was upset with his song on Guitar Hero III, as he thinks it influences the minds of small children.
For starters, I'm going to complain about the issue most (ill-informed) people have with games these days. The game is rated a 12 in the UK, so children shouldn't even be playing as it's meant for those mature enough to handle cartoon devils. It's another of those all too common "we can't blame the parents for buying their children the game, so let's go after the developers."
"The game really has a dark side complete with grotesque monsters on stage with the band, strange, eerie lighting effects and all manner of weird things popping up on the stage."
I wonder what one of his gigs were like without the lighting effects. The game is essentially about rock music. If I went to a gig and it was bright and well lit I'd leave straight away. It wouldn't be the right atmosphere for the genre, and it wouldn't be on the game either.
"...Guitar Hero version which comes complete with a horned, guitar-playing devil who battles the player and very often wins."
As for this quote, whoever was playing the game when he was forming his opinion must have been very bad. The devil always wins? I don't know about you lot, but I must be God or something, since I've managed to complete the game. Bad playing aside, did he really think that the final boss of the game wouldn't be able to win? If all games were like that there would be no point in playing. I'd love to see the developers creating Guitar Hero IV, where the final boss just looks at the guitar wondering what to do.
Sorry to go on a rant, but I just needed to say something.
