Nicalis sure has a lot going on right now. The indie developer is currently working on the Cave Story and La-Mulana WiiWare remakes and Nicalis' Night Game. Late last night, Nicalis revealed that they are working on a fourth title, which will be another Nifflas game entitled Project Q. An early prototype video and screenshots shows that Project Q will be another foray into the atmospheric world of Knytt and Knytt Stories. Nicalis has stated that the resemblance to Knytt is there, and that Project Q "takes place in the same universe".
No platform has been announced for Project Q yet, but Nicalis said that it's looking at WiiWare, it could also be released on Wii disc, PSN, XBLA, or PC. And who knows, maybe all of these platforms will see Project Q? The fact that it has a chance to make it as a physical Wii disc game has me really interested, and if it does make a release like that, how well would it sell? Be sure to check out the prototype video below.
After watching the above video, the first thing that came to mind was "Knytt Stories HD". Which isn't a bad thing by any means, since Knytt Stories is a fantastic game. I'm just wondering what Nifflas will have to offer for Project Q that's different from his previous games. Project Q has you planet hopping to find the missing pieces of a broken transporter, which isn't much different than the original Knytt's premise of you going out and finding the broken off pieces of your spaceship.
Despite the similarities, Nifflas hasn't disappointed me so far, so I'm looking forward to learning more about Project Q.
