Ever since IGF 2008 wrapped up, the news for finalist entry Hammerfall has been incredibly scarce. Thankfully, Konstantin Koshutin, the creator of Hammerfight,
launched a new website for the title along with a new trailer and a few new screenshots. An upcoming demo is also being teased for Hammerfight, but it's not telling when it will be made public.
For the uninformed, Hammerfight is a heavily physics-based action title where you're in control of your own ship that you're allowed to customize with practically any type of weapon you can think of. It was praised at IGF for it's intuitive control scheme and accurate physics mechanics. No release date has been set yet, but the wait shouldn't be much longer... hopefully.
To fans of physics-based gameplay, definitely keep an eye out for it. To be honest, I kind of forgot about the title in the time it was shown at IGF 08 and the opening of it's website today. After seeing the title though, my interest in the title has been sparked anew, and I'll be keeping my eye on the site for that demo release. Also, check out the old demo of the game released back in 2007(linked below). It's a very fun game, with beautifully rendered graphics and the physics are truly well done for it.
