In a recent The Escapist article, it's revealed that team Nicalis is aiming for an April release date(or to be more specific, "have it wrapped up around Easter") for the Wii remake of indie darling Cave Story.

All the excitement I felt during the release of the original Cave Story game by Pixel all the way back in 2004 is rushing back to me. Seeing the remake being handled with so much care and with the utmost recognition to the fans is truly a comforting feeling for the people(like me) who hold Cave Story on such a high pedestal and regard it as one of the best indie games to ever grace the scene. The promise of future DLC for Cave Story is also making me incredibly excited. Among the DLC planned is a Buss Rush Mode, and with this new feature Nicalis hopes to add more fan-requested modes. Aside from new gameplay options, some things I would love to see are new guns added to your arsenal. The option to play as Curly would be great too, like the fan-made hack that was distributed on the web a few years back. Other characters added to the playable list would be a welcome addition. A choice to play as Balrog? Anyone?... No one? Okay that might just be my wishful thinking. To be honest though, I'd buy any DLC released for Cave Story Wii. And you should too! Pixel deserves it!
