Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Army is going to to the video game stuff because their target demographic for recruits are pretty much all gamers. I see what you are saying about Dtoid though, they should post the video and leave it at that.
Someone was asking what a good post looks like... This is a good post.
Hypocrisy FTL.
I'd personally prefer to have more freedom than have to rely on the government to tell me what and how to do everything. But, the government is useful sometimes.
@Distaph
The only problem is that Destructoid is not one person. It's many people. With different opinions. If all opinions were equal, you'd be right in calling hypocrisy, but they're not.
So far as I've read, Nex hasn't weighed in his opinion on Manhunt, and Jim didn't comment on the AA article.
Well personally I've played Americas Army. I liked Americas Army, but I sure as fuck am not going to go and join the military becuase of it.
It's a game, it will always be a game. And if your mind set, before playing that game is "I ain't going to fucking Iraq to get my ass blown off."
Then that mind set is doing going to change before or after you play AA.
America's Army taught me to chuck flash grenades during the first 10 seconds of a match to obliterate my opponent, every match.
I must agree with Neonie here, playing America's Army didn't get me to join the military. I signed up before the game even came out. After I got out, I played it, and there is no way in good goddamn hell that game would've gottten me to join.
Either you know what you want, or you don't. No game is going to influence you to do something you don't want to do in the first place. Unless you're an idiot.
