Yup now the rumor is that microsuck are going to release a new SKU, which is bunk now if it includes a hd-dvd drive. HD-DVD canceled their show at the upcoming CES because of this devastating news. Newline and Time warner have gone blueray. If the new SKU is just an old 360 with tivo crap and a hddvd burned built in, who cares. HD-DVD IS AS GOOD AS DEAD NOW. So microsuck can count it's days till the end, which is in 2 years. How does this effect the video game market? Some history for you, and why Sony stuck to its guns, and why it has worked every time for every console they have released. PS1= standard CD-rom drive that also played standard Audio CDs. This was a big deal, and even today some techno rave guys still swear by them and use them because they love the type of sound quality the converters offer on audio cd playback! CD-rom offered a way better gaming experience over cartridges. This is why sony pulled a head with the PS1. PS1 was a 10 year console. PS2= DVD drive. When the ps2 launched, it sucked, the games were lack luster and I thought that the dreamcast was way better. But, because you could watch dvd movies on it(and I am sure you are saying but wait, the xbox played dvds too, but sony was first and at the right place and right time, microsuck missed the boat, just like now with dvd a soon to be dead media format on their 360), and the game content could be way bigger than that of the dreamcast, it killed the dreamcast. Because most people on budgets like collage kids could buy PS2 and didn't have to spend money on a dvd player as well, so it saved them money. This with a trickle of innovated software is what made the PS2 sell 130 million consoles world wide to date. PS2 is a 10 year console. Ps3= Forced to come out early, before the hight def dvd war was settled. But now that it is certain that HD-DVD will lose, because blueray clearly has more support, and now with warner and newline even more, I hear the death rattle for the 360 and the wii. The main difference this time, the ps3 launched with good software, and slowly over its launch year got many quality titles unlike the ps2 wich sucked ass for over a year. Point is, Blueray has won, and now that even the government is forcing HD TV on the masses in the next 2 years, every one will be using HD-TVs. They will buy the console that supports the winning media format. Internet speeds are too slow to offer true HD content and downloadable HD content that looks amazing. Who picked that correctly the last 3 times? SONY DID! The ps3 Should of launched in 2008. But because the xbox and gamecube failed, those two companies rushed their products to market to try and gain market share. They forced Sony's hands to release the ps3 early. But low and behold, it still sold extremely well even at it's high price point. The games being offered are great console games, not PC ports and gimmick pong like titles that microsuck and nintendtard are offering. Sony's games appeal to a broader range of game player. With blueray and this wider range of gaming styles and AAA content, and innovations like HOME and the CELL processor, Sony really did do things right this time. It was just forced to come out early. PS3 will be a 10 year console. Microsuck and Nintendtard Only proved that their machines will only last 4 years just like their last incarnations. Microsuck is already making the xbox 720, probably to launch in 2 years because they will lose so much market share to the ps3 from now on. Microsuck rushed the 360 to market with a high failure rate. Some say its 60%, and this will cause a huge backlash when the release the 720. The 720 is doomed. No one will put up with bad hardware again. Nintendtard: well the 3rd parties will not make money on the wii, and that will be the end of the console, just like gamecube. and yes, it will be replaced in 2 or 3 years by a new nintendtard console. Consoles cannot survive with out strong 1st party and 3rd party offerings that churn out good tittles for 10 years. LIKE SONY DOES. Microsuck and Nintendtard fail at this over and over. Why does microsuck hate sony so much, even though blueray will be the standard, microsuck will not use bluerays because of how Sony fucks up their domination of all these markets. Microsuck hates that sony uses linux for development tools on games and not the microsuck api bloat-ware that are inferior. This is a huge market for microsuck, and sony pisses all over microsuck by not using their tools. Nintendtard rehashes the same old shit. I am sick to death of metroid, mario, and zelda. Nintendtard has its head stuck in the past. That bugs me to this day. They deserve to lose on every front. Sony always pioneers new media, and delivers a product that really shines with innovations, new style games, new characters in games, and new ideas like HOME. Sony will be my DVD, Blueray, and Audio CD and MP3 player for my television entertainment center. It kills so many birds with one stone, with great sound and visual quality. All in one package. I can play all my old playstation games as well. Sony does it all better than everyone else. This is not FANBOY BANTER. I tried to hate Sony for years. I hated that they killed my dreamcast and gamecube. They Killed the 3d0 that I loved so much as well. Sony has been the death nail for some many systems I truly loved. But they always deliver better games and media support in the end. So it was all warranted. PS1 is my all time favorite console for games to this point, it had the most killer games. The PS2 next, and now for the ps3 launch, this so far is looking to even surpass the love I had for the ps1. And yes the Playstation brand has smashed so many other consoles into the ground. And yes, again, with blueray, sony will smash the wii and the 360, in 4 years wii, and 360 will be gone. PS3 will be here, playing blueray and kick ass games.
