Here it is, the night of the deadline, and I'm just barely getting my entry in. I've been putting it off because I wanted to do a video, and you can see that above. I just recorded it and aside from poor lighting, it could not have gone better as far as demonstrating just how awful my computer is.
Now I know this isn't a contest based on merit, or fame, or production, or any of that. It's a random drawing, and doing a video doesn't help my chances any. Still, I just wanted to use this as an excuse to share my pain. And who knows, maybe by putting a little more effort in than just slapping up a photo of my laptop will net me some good blogging karma, which I can redeem later for some snacks or something.
So if you haven't already, hit play on that video above and take a look at my computer, which not only is not my Turning Point gaming rig, but really is not a rig for any sort of gaming aside from Minesweeper.
its too bad you live so far away, i have a couple of spare desktops and im sure i could donate one to you. Shipping one from Canada would cost millions of dollars.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
about me
I'm a recent Master's graduate from Caltech with a degree in Chemistry. I'm currently living in Pasadena, CA, with a degree I don't want to use, trying to break into the game industry. I've been reading Destructoid since June of 2006. I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy. I've got far too many posts on the forum.
I play all types of games except realistic sports games and real-time strategy games. The former because I think they're boring and the latter because I utterly suck at them.
Games I'm currently playing:
Crush (PSP)
Left 4 Dead (360)
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (DS)
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (PSP)
Rock Band 2 (360)
Rock Band Unplugged (PSP)
Games that are on the back burner:
BioShock (360, need to go back and get the Achievements I missed)
Culdcept SAGA (360, the battles just take way too long)
Grand Theft Auto IV (360, it just didn't draw me in like the old games)
Ikaruga (XBLA, SO. HARD.)
Mario Kart Wii (Wii, I just never feel like playing its single player)
The Orange Box (360, just need two more Portal Achievements)
Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, need to complete with Luigi)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii, same issue as with Mario Kart)
Games I haven't even touched yet:
de Blob (Wii)
God of War (PS2)
MadWorld (Wii)
Metal Gear Solid 1-3 (PS1, PS2)
Okami (PS2)
Persona 3: FES (PS2)
Project Gotham Racing 4 (360)

Hahaha. If there is one thing I've learned from this contest is that there is no such thing as a quality laptop. Good luck!
When is the winner announced?
I've seen Dex's laptop in real life. He deserves to win a new computer.
Wow. That's even worse than my PC.
"Well, that's never done that before."
Oh god. Your laptop really does hate things. You deserve better.
@brosef
my laptop wasnt to bad.........
I will not be sad if you win...
Your pain is my comedy, and that is hil-fucking-arious.
its too bad you live so far away, i have a couple of spare desktops and im sure i could donate one to you. Shipping one from Canada would cost millions of dollars.
your laptop makes me sad ;;
I've seen that bad boy in action. It's not pretty. Dexter needs a new computer even more than I do.
