On Monday, the Destructoid Artisans Group announced their SCUMM contest and all the sweet details that go with it; however we decided to sweeten the contest deal to ensure all your hard work making that life-size purple tentacle out of beer cans is worth it. Not only will you be able to still win all three of the prizes we listed earlier but now each prize winner will also receive a full season (that is 5 episodes total) of Tales of Monkey Island (worth $34.95), thanks to our friends at Telltale Games who were awesome enough to sponsor our contest. Even better is the fact they have given us 5 game codes to give away, so we are changing the prize lot to include 5 winners! Now 5 people can walk away with a custom made SCUMM item made by one of the Dtoid Artisan members as well as a full season of Tales of Monkey Island. So I suggest all everyone get working on their art piece because you only have 3 more weeks to make something in order to win one of these fabulous prizes. Check out below for the revised contest details and new prize lots. Entry: The contest is open to anyone on Destructoid. Submissions, or reliable links to the submission, should be posted in the comments section. Submissions will be accepted from now until Midnight, EST, on 10/19/09. Submissions: We're looking for original works of art. The following mediums will be accepted: original images (photography, photoshop, paint, chalk, etc.), crafts, statuary/models (any real life object you can make), textiles, and food. All submissions must be original and specifically created for the contest. All submissions must have the Dtoid Artisans Team logo displayed even if it's just in the bottom corner. Attempts to submit photographs of your purchased Sam & Max t-shirt from the 1980s with the ketchup stain on it or Indiana Jones aka Harrison Ford’s lock of hair which you got after he got drunk with you one night at a legion will result in community mocking. Also we'll convince Hamza to send his shark after you. List of Games You Can Use: Maniac Mansion Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Loom The Secret of Monkey Island LeChuck's Revenge: Monkey Island 2 Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis Day of the Tentacle Full Throttle Dig The Curse of Monkey Grimm Fandango (Not a SCUMM Game but too good not to include) Judging: A panel of judges from the Destructoid Artisans Team will scrutinize all works, looking at factors such as beauty, complexity, skill, dedication, and of course sheer awesomeness. The top five entrants will be awarded prizes beyond their wildest dreams, and receive the adoration of the masses. There may also be hookers and a fruit basket. No promises. Prizes: Each winner will win a copy of the PC version of Tales of Monkey Island from Telltale Games. The game code will entitle the winner to the full season of Tales of Monkey Island featuring 5 episodes. Game codes were provided by our sponsor, Telltale Games, who rock the retro adventure game world! Plus each winner will have a choice of a handmade item from the list below. 1st place winner will have first choice, 2nd place winner second choice and so on. 1. ShadowintheNyte's Crocheted Purple Tentacle from Day of the Tentacle 2. Pendleton21's Head of Ghost Pirate Bob Key Chain from Secret of Monkey Island. (Made from glow-in-dark fused plastic beads) 3. Faith's Sam & Max: Hit the Road Magnet Set (made from fused plastic beads) 4. Faith’s LeChuck’s Revenge: Monkey Island 2 – Guybrush & LeChuck set (made from fused plastic beads) 5. though you forgot the artisan logo. Again I won't beat you with flaming hot licorice sticks but people try to remember to put it somewhere in the bottom corner or something.
ps: Never posted an image before so hope this works!

BBCode dude.
This technically isn't finished, as I planned to have lights in it to really give it some glow... however, due to an ebay seller really dropping the ball on some electronics, I have to submit the static version. But I'll update my blog when that part finally gets done.
Here's my entry for this lovely contest. Sorry for being the sixth entry... now this is actually a contest. So, here we go:
Made it small so it hopefully doesn't get cut off.
Here is a link to a BIGGER version of this pic, so you can see more details, if you want to:

A few words about this... two paintings, but they belong together, so I hope this counts as one entry. They are both ca. 21cm x 28cm, acrylics on cardboard. The DtoidArtisans logo is a print out.
So yeah, I hope you like it. I think I'm gonna go replay Grim Fandango now. :)

I'm not the craftiest dude in the world, but this contest sounded too fun to pass up. This little guy is a Purple Tentacle hand puppet made entirely of felt (and a little felt glue). I'd have a pic of him on my hand, but the glue is drying as we speak.
