There have been so many games that have come out this year that can be considered for the coveted GOTY in all those magazines, websites, and cashwhore domains. *cough* I was just wondering what my GOTY is so far this year, and also what everyone else's favorite game was. Its really a tough decision. Initially I think of the games coming out recently: The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock etc. Then I start to hate myself for not remembering all the great games that probably came out before the summer that i can't remember for shit.

The games that i mentioned earlier are really excellent, from: The Orange Box's excellent compliation of great AAA games; Bioshock's great story and atmosphere; and Call of Duty 4's RPG-esque online, there are too many choices for me. Also, I've forgotten about Galaxy. I'm waiting for everyone on Dtoid to come in here, smack me on the head, and tell me about every other game I've left out. Hey, its almost 11 where I am and I can't remember.

However, i'm pretty sure you guys do. Whats your favorite game of the year so far? Hell, maybe I'll add them all to this blog and it can be like fucking insane.

BioShock for SP, CoD4 for MP. Hot glue gun the two boxes together and you have my game of the year.

It's so hard to JUST pick one this year. At the end of the day I would probably pick The Orange Box. HUGE FUCKING GIGANTIC honorable mentions to Bioshock, Galaxy and a pat on the back to Mass Effect.

I would have to choose Mass Effect. I think I'm one of the few who can't get into Super Mario Galaxy, it's fun and all but yeah I lose interest after playing for a few minutes. Bioshock is a pretty good game, but after you finish it that's about it. I also thought that Hotel Dusk was a pretty good DS game, mainly because of the story.

For me, its Portal. I much dislike Bioshocks gameplay (the shooting is so bad), and although the rest of it is fantastic (of course), gameplay is the major factor for me. On the other end of the scale, Halo 3's is one of the most fun and best set up fps games ive played, but doesnt really do anything groundbreaking enough to get goty.

But Portal... 2.2 hours of some of the best entertainment ive ever had. Ridiculously cool, original gameplay, a great little plot with some of the best black humour ive ever come across in any medium, and it comes in the Orange box... Yup, definitely GOTY, for me.

Orange Box for me. The action in HL2 was intense, and the ending of Episode 2 left me speechless.

I'm not sure if The Orange Box can exactly be called a game per se, because it is more of a collection. I think my favorite would have to be skate., with Team Fortress 2 being a close second.
