Well, it was when I began typing this.
Let's see. On the topic of LittleBigPlanet, LBP, or "The Gift From God" as some would call it, there is no certain place to start, you just have to pick a spot and work around from there.
So I'll start with actually playing the game.
Basically, the only buttons you need are R1, X, that's it. Move with the analog stick, and you've already mastered controls to an extent. I do wish there was some sort of a sprint option, waiting for my little Sackboy to run from one place to another quickly got tedious and annoying. And slow.
All the platforming you and I know is there, with added physics. Actually, the thing that took me by surprise WAS the physics. It kinda helped tear itself away from other platformer if you looked at LBP from a platforming standpoint. Everything reacts as it should if you where a 1:100000 (or however ratios work) scale model of yourself, from knitted blocks to wooden cylinders rolling down a hill, everything is scientifically, in the physics sense, sound.
I was going to mention cuteness, but I realize I can't. This game prides itself on it, there is a Hallow Bastion themed level, with all the baddies and ghosts and traps and agony, and you can't help but laugh and say "You can't be serious, the description said 'scary!'"
On to Level Creation, also known as "My Moon". Catchy. Anyways, there is alot, and I will repeat,
a lot you can do in the level editor, and if you think not, just check out some of the levels, even bad, the result of being bad was caused by having to much stuff put into the level. Albeit, some rearranging and some of those levels could have been better, but stray from the point why won't I? It's hard not to do all you want to do in My Moon, even if they have a limit, I think some might have hacked and removed it. Point being, if you think you can do it, you probably can. That's a good thing, when coupled with other good things, like good ideas in the first place.
Customization of the Sackboy is fun, you can make your Sackboy into pretty much anything, from a pirate to a princess, to...something I'm not going to mention and utilized the report feature on. I'm hoping on SteamPunk and Pulp Fiction outfits, those would just be badass.
Oye, I have a love hate Relationship with Online play, especially co-op. Some games would lag like hell, others would be plagued with jackasses who did nothing but knock your innocent little Sackboy around like a...rag...doll...anyways, although most where enjoyable experiences, getting there was something to be desired. While waiting to join a game, you might experience just a freeze of about 20 seconds before anything happened. I even had to restart my PS3 once, because the screen went black and I could only here theme music.
In any case, I'll blame it on beta and what-not, the actual co-op is fun, and they mean co-op when it says co-op. So stop bickering and work together when this game drops.
And Races are FUN HELL FUN FUN.
Finally, I have one big complaint. The camera. More or less, it moves to fast, often disorientating me from what I'm doing, or just giving me bad eye strain from darting my eyes to fast. I also don't like the fact that you can't control it, but it's a 2.5D platformer, so I can deal. Just slow down the camera and I'll be fine.
All in all, LittleBigPlanet managed to impress me quite a bit, although I, myself, wouldn't call it the second coming of Mace Windu, I did manage to have fun with the levels, the community levels, and some fun with My Moon, even if I need more time to get the hang of creating things. From this beta, I'm defiantly putting LittleBigPlanet on my "Pick Up When You Get Cash" list, like everything else.
Now, I need Burnout Paradise, and strangely, I could use some Folklore.
Hopefully.
The only problem I had with it was that I could never quite get the level creator to do what I wanted. I had an idea for a level that I just couldn't get the game to do without it freezing up or shitting on me.
