Fallout: video and guide - super lazyness late edition
Dao2-SKP | 12:14 AM on 11.16.2008 9 comments

Wow I shoulda posted this a while ago :P

but I'm lazy ^^ Ah well made another video, but not a look-back like my others! (not that i can really look back on 2-3 weeks ago and report on good old times with a straight face for a game as new as fallout 3 :P). Actually it doesn't have any of the talking. It's not the most amazing video around since im not the alakafuckignzam of video editing but I think I did a pretty good job and I'm very pleased ;p (though sad I didn't get a LPrime voice synther :/)

Ah well I should shutup and get to it huh ;p But first the "guide"

The 2 things you need to know about fallout 3 that you might not know (but probably do by now)

1: There is a flashlight, hold down tab.
2: you can assign shit to hotkeys, go to your pipboy and hold down a number then click on whatever u want ;p

alright to the video! As always youtube has managed to play it in craptacular vision on lq so I suggest clicking through and watchign it in hight quality!

Linkage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyZGe3xGIII

rapidshare download linkage in case you for some reason want to dl it :P http://rapidshare.com/files/161375018/Fallout_AwesomenessF.wmv.html (about 180 megs)

enjoy!

Some hypothetical questions:

Why is it that people don't think a game's sound design is good enough, and feel the need to put crappy emo music over all of their compilations?

Also, who the hell would choose to play in third-person?
Dao2-SKP's Destructoid Blog
3rd person is just for the video :P It is a bitch to play in and I do not recommend it at all :P It's not like it was a skill video.

And I think the reason for any game video not using the ingame music is because, obviously (I mean really fuckign obviously, how can you not figure this out?) when you play the game you hear their sound over and over and over again, and maybe (just maybe right?) you want to try put something that sounds different on ;p Despite the song having absolutely nothing to fit in with the fallout feel I do think it fit rather well :P

Also I had no idea that's crappy emo music :P but of course I must defer to you (obviously) expert opinion! It is now emo music :|

also it's pretty hard to tell with youtube, and even if you could it turned out far crappier then I intended (thanks to my editing skills :P) but every time he was "running" it was an overlay of his father, and the beginning (after the first 5 seconds) was supposed to be some sort of flash back.

It turned out looking nothing of the sort but if you think it's an emo song then you can just put it down as a fitting with the "running after father" message :P emos miss their fathers right? ;p

Eh. I call all music I don't know emo music. In all honesty, it's an epidemic among people who make compilation videos. Go on youtube and type in 'Halo 3 montage' and you'll get what I mean.

I play in third-person a lot. It helps me survey the area around me, assists in locating enemies around corners and, frankly, I like seeing my character. Just about the only time I use first-person is when I'm scavenging and it's easier to pinpoint the specific item I want to pick up.

bfeld, well like I said, hearing the same type of music in a game makes it super boring to use it in a video :P and it's not really a compilation video.... my halo video uses battle without honor or humanity and instant music :P of course my halo video is me lighting a copy of halo on fire but whatever :P

conrad - aiming with it for me is a bitch :| I do walk around in 3rd person though cause like u said ;p but how can u aim with that?!

3rd person FTW
Conrad Zimmerman's Destructoid Blog
DAO2-SKP - I don't aim. That's what VATS is for. Why, back in my day, if you wanted to reload in Fallout during combat, you had to spend an action point to do it. Hell, if you wanted to move...
Dao2-SKP's Destructoid Blog
@ conrad - haha ;p yah vats is fun but I like shooting plenty too ;p i actually like the combo vats-free roaming system. It wouldnt work at all for fallout 1 or 2 but it does fit in nicely with 3 though and happy it's there :P
