"Silence" is the lastest work of Aja Williams A.K.A. Renard, this canadian it's a great musician, has realeased a lot of tunes, even a dancing game called Mungyodance (a Stepmania based game). Very talented guy if you ask me.
Tonight he realesed probably the best music tribute to one of the greatest horror games of all, Silent Hill. This album of 30 minutes aprox. captures all the atmosfere of this game, famous by the Akira Yamaoka work on it. I just listened in the darkness of my room and i just got scared the hell out. This work it's just awesome and I really thinks that deserve promotion. If you have to time, listen to it.
So, enough of talking, just listening. The entire album is on YouTube, so let's check it out. And follow his instructions, it's a lot more enjoyable.
if you really like it, support Renard by buying this for just 5 dollars at his store. It's a good deal to me. personally im planing on doing something cool whit this stuff, a video could be.
Thanks for your time, see you later!
P.D.: This friday im going to post a sum of what's going on whit the Spanish/Bilingüal podcast ;) (Este viernes posteare un resumen con el sumario de que esta ocurriendo con el podcast español/bilingue)
LA doesn’t only means Los Angeles, also means Latin America. I’ve commented this to Chibi-con and some latins who knows what Destructoid all about, and I have this idea for months and now it’s time to make it happen.
I know there’s a lot of International Dtoiders that it’s main language is the Spanish one, so, if there is Podtoid, Retroforce Go!, Failcast and Drunkcast ¿Why don’t have a Spanish podcast? Yeah I’m talking about only one for us, the Latin (and Spaniards) Dtoiders who enjoy this site so much, and we really want to add our “special touch”.
So here’s the deal, a Spanish podcast where we talk about games, the site, the community and have some fun. So what do you think? If you speak Spanish or you can handle it (in case you don’t speak Spanish that well but you want to participate) , email me at danzflor[at]hotmail[dot]com or leave a post here if you’re interested in this project and let’s see what the feedback as to say.
I being around here like a year in Destructoid, I know I never write anything because im very lazy, but it’s really nice to see that the community receive whit arms open the new dtoiders and everyone that want to express their opinions.
I’m just giving a big THANK YOU to all in the community for being awesome and accept everyone. I know, this maybe sounds like I want to lick somebody boots, but it isn’t. I really appreciate you all for the support on the new guys and it’s nice to see that we have a huge platform like Destructoid to express ourselves here.My English just sucks but it’s nice to know that someone is reading you and also I’m reading you guys.
That’s it and I really want it to blog this. Maybe it’s a Fail, maybe not, but that’s all I want to say. Thanks for being awesome ;)
(If I never blog something I would never know, and now I know it, you rule guys ^^)
P.S: I’m a little drunk but if I don’t do this now, I probably never going to do it. Thanks Dtoid and Dtoiders, for make my life more happy ^^
[Author’s Note: I Hope you don’t have much problem whit the reading, since right now I have no one that can check if this is correctly written in English, my apologies, I’m doing my best. And I really enjoy writing this for you, hope you like it.]
I know, almost every one that call himself a hardcore gamer, has to play fighting games at least once in his entire lifetime. You have to at least know what it’s King of Fighters and Street Fighter. And you have to been touched by an Arcade joystick.
My feeling whit these bastards are mixed: I can’t love them, but I can’t hate them. And I think it’s probably more than that. It’s something that I can’t explain very well.
Let me do a quick recap of my gaming life: I was born as a video gamer whit Donkey Kong Country, and I love that kind of games. When I was a kid I avoid (without a reason) games like Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat, I tried once, but I just smash buttons, something funny happens and I was happy, until that day…
I found some arcade machines of those games in a near city and I try to play it; the nostalgia comes instantly, but when a guy come and friendly says “Let play Killer Instinct?” That moment was burned in my mind like when Hamza named me one is his favourite’s stalkers on Facebook. I mean, for the first time EVER I saw the word “ULTRA” on the screen and heard “ULTRA COMBOOOO!!” I never, ever knew that those funny characters have some other special abilities beside to punch and kick. My whole gaming world open up again, but I the same it was frustrating, I knew at that moment that I would never be that good or get any of those crazy and sick combinations. I just have waste many years of my life to be learning new movements.
I think I never played that games, or I never get interested till today, probably because I never saw Saint Seya or Dragon Ball (yeah, I have no childhood at all) and I never like any kind of violence in games (I never have played GTA for more than an hour before I just got bored and put codes to blast the heck out of the city) but gladly my own father teach me that videogames are just entertaining fantasy and it’s not real, so it’s ok to play to be the judge of the humankind killing characters in a game. He probably says that because he loves the Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee movies. Anyway, I’m glad my own father teaches me something useful about videogames and not blame them for everything. (In fact, he gave to me my first console, a Nintendo 64, I ‘m still playing Conker, Hell Yeah).
But returning to the fighting games, I’ve never going to be good at those games, not because I hate them, because, I can do that crazy stuff whit the buttons and get irritated as hell.
And suddenly, all changes again…damn you, Capcom…
A few months early, I just got the news that Street Fighter IV will be on PC. Sadly, I have no console, and hoping that my laptop will carry on, I get my copy. It sucks to have to play it on minimum graphics, but still ok.
You’re May are wondering “If he hates fighting games ¿Why did he get Street Fighter IV?” It’s simple, I just get everything that generates a lot of hype (it’s has to be good, right?) and I just want to give it a try (Wrong, I just feel in love whit Sakura, that’s all).
I don’t have any kind of joystick, I just played it whit the damn keyboard, and the same history repeats. I just kick and punch, that’s all I got, I just got lucky to get El Fuerte’s Ultra once. Can you believe I just play Arcade Mode on SuperEasy!? And I can’t beat my rival? I have spent like… 2 hours, 2 freaking hours to beat my rival in fact to unlock Sakura, just to know that I have to defeat another character that took me another hour and a half!?
If I hate these games ¿How the hell I waste and resist son much? (here comes the explanation for all the crap I just write before, thanks for you patience and reading). Because everytime I defeated a fighter, it was like “Hey, I really can do this” (even if there was on SuperFreakinEasy) and I just mash the buttons and the Super’s start to appears, I have no idea what I was doing but it was really enjoyable (just like when I try Wii Music, I enjoyed it so much, but then I realize I just look retarded doing that), and when it appears the Rival and the Final Boss, just the atmosphere and the feeling of you’re getting your ass kicked again and again and again, feeling my heart beating, adrenaline everywhere, sweet, pain, angry, a perfect mixture between pleasure and torture that I haven’t had it since the first time I fight Bowser on Super Mario 64, it was AMAZING!! And then I understand why everybody loves the fighting games, and my life as a gamer grown up a little bit inside.
But I still suck, I just can’t beat Zangief whit El Fuerte.
[Autors Note: First serious c-blog im going to post here. My English really sucks, youre warned.]
When you are playing in a place full of consoles with you friends that love videogames like you, the jokes about that games are usual, As well the jokes and references to gaming websites. Its normal when your parents or casual gamers know of what youre talking about even if theres any console nearby. But it isnt normal when that same people know of what Suck my Shark is or the Awesome references are. Why? Because they almost never read a gaming web site.
Yeah, for sure with your closest friends you can laugh about something that Chad Concelmo says, but if youre are with a lot of friend, mostly half of them arent gamers and they catch what youre saying thats awesome.
Or maybe, its because we talk about Destructoid all day. Maybe for you, my dear readers, this is normal and youre thinking WTF is this guy writing this? Its because here in Chile only the hardcore gamers know what Destructoid its all about. And its awesome to spread to word without force anyone.
Example: My friends (girls), the only thing that they know about USA its Disney Channel, but they heard about Destructoid or ScrewAttack from me, and they get interested or want to know to no appears like ignorant people.
As a lover of Destructoid and a proud G1 (I never write a shit, but Im always visiting the sites) its really nice to have a one more common point with your friends, and its also nice to talk about the people of these sites like they really were close to you. And they are.
For a guy like me, living thousand of miles away from Miami, its feels warm in my heart to see a community so connected and the staff members too.
What I try to wrote was something like, lets get out of the box for a little and see the others one around us. The gamers , the casuals, and the non-gamers, but they are all your friends, and always you can maker jokes about how Sexy Chad is.
And that my friends, its awesome.
Thanks for your patience, Ill see you next week.
PD: Sorry for the horrible writing, im working on improving it, and if I dont update this thing maybe I never have the guts to write something again, this helps me a lot.
Also, New Bio and Profile.
Im pretty exciting about this, finnally the rabbids are separated from Ray (and i really hope a new rayman game series) and now it explain clearly all about the storyline. Now we just have to wait for some gameplay footage of this new adventure game form Ubisoft.
