Wheel of Time MMORPG

Recently announced was that Red Eagle Games (new company) will be creating a MMORPG based upon the hit fantasy series The Wheel of Time. While the company states they will be releasing a MMORPG, a stand-alone game for consoles/handheld systems, AND a live action motion picture based upon the first book Eye of the World. Seems like someone is putting wayyyy too much on their plate. However I am quite interested to see if they can pull it off, as the Wheel of Time's background, geography, and characters are more fleshed out then most MMORPG's currently released.

Sadly the author of the series, Robert Jordan *that's his pen name* will not see his works turned into a digital format, as he passed away a few months previous. You can look at IGN's full post about it http://pc.ign.com/articles/929/929464p1.html

I really don't care for MMOs that are basing themselves off of books. It's hard enough for a single player RPG to capture the feeling of a book, and even though I never cared for wheel of time, I don't think the MMO will come close to capturing the feel of the series.

my monies on it ending up like the Wheel of Time FPS and disappearing into obscurity as soon as it comes out.

Considering a game was already made based upon the Wheel of Time series and Robert Jordan didnt scream in horror...

and he DID let it happen!

hehe, I know, I even mentioned it. too bad book to game translations don't get the Betrayal at Krondor treatment anymore where the Author helped write the dialog.
