Do you wear videogame t-shirts? I suppose that's a silly question. Of course you do. I do. We all do. Well, hold on...

I do, but it's rare. Maybe I haven't done laundry in awhile. Or maybe I'm working in the yard, or exercising. I have nothing against game t-shirts, mind you. I think they're great, and wearing them shows my interests, and lets me show some of my gamer pride.

I definitely wore them more in my younger years. I'm getting old now, and I've set into wearing clothing that maybe has a bit more shape or form, I think. Ah, maybe I'm just a clothes asshole.

Anyway, I've noticed that when I do wear game shirts out and about, it opens the door to talking to others about my passion for games, my career, and the industry in general. I think that's fantastic. And it never fails -- I wear a game shirt and someone strikes up a conversation. Love it.

Last night, for instance: I went to a local BBQ place to fuck up some pulled pork and beans (and mac & cheese). I was served and it was good. Later, the guy that prepared my food came out and said he liked my shirt. (I was wearing a Prototype 2 t-shirt that Activision gave me at some event.) I asked him if he liked the game, and he told me it was 'better' than the first. I laughed and told him that was exactly what I had said!

The convo went on as we talked about the hardships the developer is now going through, and then moved onto how much money Activision has. Nice guy, nice talk.

This got me thinking: Why don't I wear game t-shirts more often?

[But I know the answer! They always give me a fucking XL or L. One time I got an XXL. I'm a fucking SMALL. I'm a bony fuck that has no meat on his bones. And what's really fucked is that A LOT of people in my field are thin/bony/small. Why do they always give us large shirts?!?!? Even a Medium looks kind of silly already. I have a damned mountain of L-sized shirts in my closet, never worn.]

Toot. I don't really like the branded, hand out at event shirts because they're usually just a logo, poor quality, and ill fitting if not huge like you said. I have a sweet 8-bit excitebike shirt I got from some local shop and i get compliments on it all the time.
I have a few that I wear on occasion, but I rarely get a conversation going because of them. Maybe that's because I'm in the midwest though.
i have a green lantern and zelda shirt
I quit wearing t-shirts a few years ago but I do enjoy seeing video game t-shirs on people. They have gotten very creative over the years.
I often wear my PAX T-Shirts, but that's because they're women's T-shirts and they fit right. I have to admit that almost every other Tshirt I got free at PAX got sent away to my adoptees... and yes, they were mostly larger sizes (with the flappy arms).

I do wish there were more video game themed sweatshirts or hoodies available - I have a bit of a hoodie addiction!
I'll have your XL's and XXL's!! I'm a pretty big guy and I wear pretty much nothing other than game/internet memeish Tshirts!

(unless I'm wearing a shirt/suit - then I've probably got a game T underneath)
Only if they're really good.
I only really like game shirts that are more obliquely referential or at least well-designed anymore, so I'm down to about a handful, but they tend to get some appreciation from people who recognize them. My favorite's got to be a "ceci n'est pas une pipe" shirt I got from Threadless a while back, with the pipe being the sort that's sprouting a piranha plant. Gets more thumbs up for Magritte than for Mario, much to my delight.
I used to have a Dreamcast shirt that I loved back in grade school. I also have the LBP one that came with the preorder but I don't wear it.

Other than that, I have Mario and Sonic ties with their early 90s art designs. Though I'm never allowed to wear those haha! :(
I'm starting to have a good collection of videogame-themed T-shirts. There are a couple of good quality ones sold at the supermarket I work at ('I Pulled a Princess!' featuring Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad; 'All You Can Eat' featuring Pac-Man) that are still in my room.

My most recent purchase was a kick-ass Street Fighter 2 one with a design I can't seem to easily find an example of on the internets...
I have an Okami t-shirt that I won not too long ago. But it just has the Japanese logo on it, so it's a pretty ambiguous shirt. I guess it could be an all right conversation starter.

"Hey, is that Japanese? What does it say"
"Ummm...great god"
"...."
I own seven or eight Dtoid shirts and one Half-Life 2 shirt which I wear frequently. Other than that, nope!
BRB, burning my Zelda and Green Lantern Tees,

I'm mostly a T-shirt person and it's fun how they start conversations about thier related things. Oddly, I still keep a Deception Tee around even though I've not kept up with any of it since I was a kid. I just liked it..Thanks to D-Toid I have a Lollipop Chainsaw Tee to add to the wardrobe!
I wear a lot of shirt.woot stuff. My favorite being my 8bit princess bride shirt. Biut the only time I wear vg shirts (which I got working at gstop ) is around the house on laundry days.
I wear one of two kinds of shirts. Metal Tees, or Gamer Tees. During Canada Day at the lake, saw a chick with a Zelda shirt on, told her I loved the shirt, showed my Zelda tattoos, and we hit it off from there.
I'm proud of my Gamer Tees, although I could use a lot more. The ratio to Metal Tees to Gamer ones is about 40:6. I have too many fucking shirts.
Whenever a company sends me a promotional T-shirt I give it to my wife. It's usually the wrong size.
I have an N7 shirt and an old Megaman shirt.
I have a couple giant bomb shirts. Other than that though, I usually were band shirts. I guess it's too easy to see video game brands as being the property of money-hungry corporations, as compared to bands who actually seem like they deserve my money. Wearing Mass Effect merch would be like wearing BP oil merch when you think about it.

Maybe if it were the developers themselves selling their own merch then it would be cool. Like if I could buy an Access Games shirt after buying a used copy of Spy Fiction to make up for the fact that I can't get the game new anymore. That would be really cool.

But as far as buying a shirt that says "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this." from Hot Topic or something? I grew out of that after high school.
I have a few video game shirts, but the only ones that have actually sparked a few interesting conversations have been my "camper" shirt and my "achievement unlocked left the house" shirt.
Fuck, I accidentally hit enter.

I mainly wear band shirts though but I do have a The Word Alive shirt that has Zub Zero ripping off Scorpion's head which got me a compliment once and seems to get plenty of looks.
I have a Super Meat Boy shirt which I never wear in public, as it's kind of offensive (Dr. Fetus giving the middle finger), as well as a Katamari shirt and a very ambiguous No More Heroes shirt. Never had anyone comment on them, but it would be really crazy/awesome if someone recognized the No More Heroes shirt (which I wear all the time).
I recently wear a donkey kong country t shirt and it has dk and diddy on it. Its got a shitty phrase "barrels of fun" so its bittersweet.
Not really, I'm not against it, but it has to look good besides representing what I like. Sort of how that Squid Bear Dtoid shirt looks good and at the same time represents Dtoid.
I never really used to, but since gamestop started their rewards program I've gotten 4 free shirts from jinx and I love them all.Nuketown from Black Ops, Good, Bad, and Undead from undead nightmare, Portal 2, and Singed from League of Legends. Still my favorite is the Undead Nightmare one.
I used t-shirt paint to make a custom Fallout 3 hoodie. It's faded, but I still wear it every once and a while. A friend of mine got me a Threadless Mario shirt that I wear, but mostly because it's super soft not because it has Mario on it. No one has ever commented on either, but like someone said earlier, probably because I am in the Midwest.
I'm rocking Dtoid apparel half the time, I suppose that counts.
Yo Dale, I'll take your 2XLs off your hands. I'm of that particular...we'll...

I'm fat.
I tend to get the nice ones that fit and I wear them pretty regularly , sparks up some conversations which is nice. I'm happy to see that it works for others too!
If I ever do decide to buy videogame t-shirts, it will probably be from Dtoid or http://www.gamerprint.co.uk/ .  I like the subtlety of their prints.
Same, I'm a medium, and preorder shirt bonuses and free shirts in general are usually an XL here. I used to hold onto them for some reason, but now I just give them away.
I have a Binary Domain shirt and a Halo Reach shirt, love them!
I have a number of gaming-related t-shirts that I wear, though they tend to be chosen because I find something clever about their design and/or require more than a passing glance to know that they reference games. I'm not a fan of wearing logos and there are very few shirts which bear a product name that I'll wear around simply because they generally aren't all that entertaining.

The only exception which comes immediately to mind is an Alan Wake shirt I have which simply says I AM AWAKE across the chest with a fairly small logo between the shoulders on the back. Love that one.
Yes, sir, I do! A friend of mine, who also plays video games, teases me about wearing my gamer heart on my sleeve (quite literally), but the only time anyone ever pays attention to them are other gamers. When I wear my N7 jacket I often get high fives from random people, which always amuses me. But to your point on sizes, it can be really hard to find good game themed shirts in female cuts, which is a bummer. Bioware is one of the few really awesome about that.

Stubbleman: You know, I guess I can see that POV, but for my own purposes, if I love a game I want to wear the merch if it's available. In the end, I think most clothing money, franchised or otherwise, ultimately goes to big corporations, right? Unless you are buying all small business, organic, locally grown, etc. clothing. If you are, you have my sincerest respect and admiration.
I don't wear game shirts really, but I do wear band shirts almost exclusively. Has the same effect. Either conversations or someone throwing up the horns :P
I feel like I'm advertising a game if I'm wearing a shirt featuring a logo or name. I'm not fond of advertising anything that isn't mine.

But I do love wearing my Retroforce GO shirt and my Tomopop shirt. I do that with a lot of pride.
Usually when I go to NYCC, I tend to indulge myself and buy around 8-10 gaming tees.
