Last week on Destructoid, Nick Chester posted an article about the free giveaway Goozex is doing during the month of April. Because I’m poor AND broke I figured I’d give it a shot.

Before this promotion I had heard of Goozex but being an avid game collector I wasn’t into the whole trading thing. However, offer me a chance at a free video game and I’m there. I really didn’t expect much but when I saw MGS3 for 100 points I wanted to shit myself. Sure I was holding out for Subsistence, but that can be hard to find and expensive, plus MGS4 is right around the corner so I decided now is the time to put aside my bad feelings from MGS2 and dig into the masterpiece that is MGS3.

Once I placed my order I figured I’d have a few weeks to wait but I got an email the very next day saying my copy of MGS3 was in the mail! No Shit! Then low and behold, I get home from school on this crappiest of Mondays and what do I find in my mail box? Free video game goodness! Booyah! I’m off to experience Metal Gear Solid 3 for the first time, aren’t you jealous?

I checked out that deal too, and its pretty fucking sweet. Best thing though? If you find a buddy to sign up, and they use your reference number, as soon as they use their free 100points for their game, YOU also get ANOTHER free 100pts.
I've referenced like two people.

Yeah, you sign up for Goozex in the month of april and you get 1 trade credit and 100 goozex points. Any game equal to 100 points can be had. I didn't search 360 as my first choice was MGS3 and it turned out to be 100 points. My second choice would have been Saints Row but I never searched for it.

Well, it's not too bad of a deal then. 100 pts seems like shit, but I guess not. Then again, this game goes for like under 10 bucks used. Still, free is free.

it costs "1 dollar" to trade a game. that dollar is converted into a "trade point"

But if you sign up within april you get one free trade point and 100 free points.

Its pretty damn badass, honestly.

You'd be suprised how many games they have for 100 points.
There are definately some 100 point 360 games too

It goes for $14 used where I am and thats a steep investment for somebody who can survive on $2 worth of food in a day. The version I really wanted, Subsistence, goes for $35-$50 if you can find it.

Its like, newer games cost around 1000 points at most.
And older games (like mgs3) go for 100 points.

I'll give you a reference number.
With the reference number deal, once you make your first successful trade (your free game) we would both get ANOTHER bonus 100 points and 1 trade point.

Would I be better off selling my old PS2 games at Gamestop? It's pretty humiliating to go in there with 20 games and walk out with $15. Where is the better value?

The LEAST you get for any game is 100 points.

200 points will still get you a sick game, as will 300, etc etc.

just go read the prices on any game. just search any game your interested in, and check the point price

Thanks for mentioning this. I put up my Gold Edition of Marvel Ultimate Alliance... it goes for 950 points (cost me $18 used)!!!!! Plus I put up Prey (450pts... i bought it for $7). Hope this shit works. haha.

As soon as that get's picked up I'll have like 2 or 3 free games coming.

You know, I have to stop and wonder if this is really worthwhile...obviously the free game is, but I mean in the long run. Between paying to ship your own games out along with the $1 per game charge, it almost seems like it'd cost around to same as buying most of the games used...

Yeah, my copy of Subsistence crapped out when I was about nine hours in...so I have to find a working copy of it so my save file works. Still, though, awesome.

That is strange. Between MGS, MGS2 and MGSTwinSnakes I like twinsnakes the best, but thats because it controls like MGS2. @ really is a great game, barring the kooky story line you should really enjoy it.

Whats up Destructoid? My name is Sean McLoughlin and I've been sent from the futurepast to march with my fellow robots to victory. For Niero! My favorite games can be numerous (as I'm sure is true of most here at Dtoid), but my all time favorites are Final Fantasy VI, Diablo II, Bioshock and Metal Gear Solid. I never rent games and I rarely trade in or sell the games I buy so I have a pretty massive game collection. For the sake of space I'll just list the consoles and portables that I own: NES, SNES, Genesis, Game Gear, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Advance, Playstation, N64, Playstation 2, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, Neo Geo Pocket, Nintendo DS, Nintendo DSi, PSP 2000, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and a Playstation 3. When I'm not in school or gaming you can probably find me reading a science fiction/fantasy novel or an issue of Wired or some such. My favorite authors are George RR Martin, Terry Brooks, Garth Nix and Terry Goodkind. I'm also a big fan of movies, my favorites right now are The Departed, Smoking Aces and Crank, although my all time favorite movie/director is Reservoir Dogs/Tarantino. I don't watch much TV and if I do its usually Discovery channel or Science Channel. My favorite band is obviously The Grateful Dead although my musical tastes are quite varied.
