About Me

Whats up Destructoid?
My name is Sean McLoughlin and I've been sent from the futurepast to march with my fellow robots to victory. For Niero!

My favorite games can be numerous (as I'm sure is true of most here at Dtoid), but my all time favorites are Final Fantasy VI, Diablo II, Bioshock, Braid, Demon's Souls and Metal Gear Solid. I never rent games and I rarely trade in or sell the games I buy so I have a pretty massive game collection. For the sake of space I'll just list the consoles and portables that I own: NES, SNES, Genesis, Game Gear, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Advance, Playstation, N64, Playstation 2 (one original which is broken and a Slim), Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, Neo Geo Pocket, Nintendo DS, Nintendo DSi, PSP 2000, Xbox 360 (red-ringed once), a fully backwards compatible Playstation 3 and a Wii.

When I'm not in school or gaming you can probably find me reading a science fiction/fantasy novel or an issue of Wired or some such. My favorite authors are George RR Martin, Terry Brooks, Garth Nix and Terry Goodkind. I'm also a big fan of movies, my favorites right now are The Departed, Smoking Aces and Crank, although my all time favorite movie/director is Reservoir Dogs/Tarantino. I don't watch much TV and if I do its usually Discovery channel or Science Channel. I love Professional Wrestling, Y2J SAVE US! My favorite band is obviously The Grateful Dead although my musical tastes are quite varied. I listen to everything from T.I. to Metallica to Toby Keith. Also, MC Chris FTMFW!

Bored? Why not try one of the games I've made:
Floyd's Tomb
Season of Thorns

Custom One Handed 360 Controller
DaedHead8 | 2:06 PM on 03.19.2008 19 comments

One of my greatest fears in life is getting into an accident and losing a finger or a hand. Nothing scares me more because it would impair my ability as a gamer. Well friends, it seems I have to worry no more. This bad ass controller was made by one Ben Heckendorn, the maker of the way too cool 360 laptop:

This is actually a redesign of his One Handed Controller, the original is being readied for retail sale and looks like this:

I think the redesign is a huge improvement. The original (called the access) seems way too bulky to be a one handed controller. The only thing I'm not really crazy about on the redesign is the placement of the secondary joystick. It's on the bottom and according to Ben, it's meant to be manipulated by balancing it on your leg and moving the controller itself. It's a great idea but it seems like it would take some getting used to. The only question that remains is, is the D-pad any better then the original 360 pad?

Bonus: Scroll down on the blog and check out the portable SNES. Looks kinda like a Sega Nomad.

A bit late but it's always good to remind people or show those who haven't seen it before.
Good find.

Well, of course it would take getting used to. So does adjusting to life with one arm.

So does anyone else think Tecmo might pack this in with Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball 3?

I can't ever imagine getting used to using my knee for a second analog stick, but I suppose I'd try to get used to it...

I saw it a while ago allready, as most people probably...

I really hope they can get this thing to market, I can immagine there's loads of people that would love to play games but that simply can't... I just hope they remember to create a left- and righthanded version...

360 controller with PS d-pad = win

Maybe if I had two of those controllers, left- and righthanded, I could beat Sadistic on UT3. But I don't think my brain can handle this. My head will probably asplode because it has too much buttons.
