Live in the Austin area, or willing to drive there? Killing time waiting for the big games of 2011 to hit? Well, while you're anxiously awaiting the release of Two Worlds II and Mindjack, why don't you come and play some old(er) games with us?

Some drinks (leaded and unleaded) and snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own as well! We'll probably hit up some 4-player beat 'em up action (a la Castle Crashers or Scott Pilgrim), potentially some Rock Band (happy now, Xzyliac?), and maybe even some movie viewing if things get low-key later.

Folks will be gathering at the domicile of Sean and Dawn Carey (in NW Austin) on the evening of Friday, Jan. 14th from 8pm-????. All Dtoiders are welcome! The time for Texas NARPing is nearly upon us! Come join us in stockpiling automatic weapons and digging fortified trenches in anticipation of our seccession from the United States of America!

It's all going down the weekend of Aug. 20-22. Fri and Sat nights will be for parties, Sat and Sun mornings/afternoons will be for recovery and pancakes, and Sat. evening is the retro game tournament at Game Over Videogames! David Kaelin, the owner of Game Over, has graciously opened his establishment to us for a Destructoid only game tournament. Here's the details:

The event runs from 6-9PM on Sat, Aug. 21. There will be two tourneys run during the event - one for Goldeneye and one for Mario Kart 64, so dust off those old consoles and start practicing. Anyone signing up for the tournament will be automatically entered into both events, which means you'll have two chances to win!

Win what, you ask? Well, the Game Over crew loves Dtoid so much (why don't they marry us?) that they're ponying up big time to make sure it's worth your while to show face and do battle with your comrades. They're giving away gift cards to the top 3 spots in each of the events. I will sprinkle a little random swag on top to sweeten the deal.

1st place in either game will net you a $50 gift card, 2nd place is worth a $25 card, and 3rd place is still pulling down a $10 gift card prize! Plus, you'll have bragging rights until the next tournament!

Here's the catch -- you've got to be registered to participate. To register, you'll need to join the Dtoid TX google group, which you can do by sending me a PM here with your gmail address or firing off an email to sean@destructoid.com. I'll send you an invite to the google group, and you can then post in the tourney sign-up thread. The spots will be limited to 24 total entrants, so make sure you get registered before the spots fill up. I know many of you have expressed interest in competing, but you HAVE to be registed in the sign-up thread for your shot at gift cards and glory!

The next official Dtoid Austin NARP is now set for the weekend of Fri., Aug. 20 - Sun., Aug. 22nd, and I'm starting to squeeeeeeeeee about how it's all starting to come together.

Hey there boys and girls, it's bleh. I know that it's been a while since the Texas NARP crew has been out and about, and I aims to do something about that.

Mainly, find out what you kids want to do.

Since Texas is slightly bigger than the other NARP groups, I need to know when and how you guys want to hang out. I, of course, live in Dallas, and am down for whatever. I know that it's a drive from anywhere to anywhere down here, but I'd like to get y'all together for some shenanigans and possibly drinking. I'm just playing, of course there will be shenanigans.

So, since I'm taking over the dtoidaustin group e-mailer/posting duties, I need to know what's up with y'all. We do have a google group, and, yes, it's been a bit quiet. I set up a forum thread here for us to discuss, and if you need an invite to the group, just send me an e-mail at blehman646@gmail.com.
